2 We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. - Winston Churchill Dear Friends, April is National Volunteer Month where organizations celebrate those individuals who donate the gift of time. With the support of the community we are able to provide essential services that improve health, reduce isolation, and promote independent living for seniors in our community. Volunteers are truly the backbone of our organization, with nearly 600 individuals donating more than 47,000 hours annually in the fight to end hunger. On May 15, 2015, we are honoring these dedicated volunteers at our 7 th Annual More Than A Meal Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. We would be thrilled to have your support in paying tribute to their dedication and compassion. For the past 30 years we have been working tirelessly to meet the growing needs of our community. While we have certainly seen an increase in the amount of seniors who are hungry in the past few years, the support of generous donors like you has allowed us to launch creative and efficient programs to reach out to those most in need. Through innovative programs like home meal delivery, grocery shopping assistance, meals for companion pets, and nutrition counseling, we were able to serve 10,000 seniors with over 1,200,000 meals last year. As we work towards ending senior hunger in Broward County, we remain mindful of the fact that we could not do it without the help of our dedicated volunteers and individuals like you.
