FTSE confirms that Barratt Developments has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series. Created by the global index company FTSE, FTSE4Good is an equity index series that is designed to facilitate investment in companies that meet globally recognised corporate responsibility standards. 3 Barratt Developments, September 2018 barrattdevelopments.co.uk/sustainability 3 HOW WE MANAGE SUSTAINABILITY For each of the six sustainability issues that matter most to our business and stakeholders we have agreed long term targets. Each year we set actions to achieve these. We call this our Sustainability Framework. Specific Group Directors are tasked with embedding the Sustainability Framework into the business. Through this, we aim to ensure changes in processes, behaviours and ways of working become part of normal business operations. Progress is reported against actions quarterly to the Executive Committee, by the Head of Corporate Sustainability. Our Chief Executive holds Board level responsibility for sustainability. OUR SUSTAINABILITY FRAMEWORK 1ST JULY TH JUNE 2019 We will benchmark our sustainability performance and drive our programme forward through engaging key stakeholders as follows: Achieve upper quartile score in FTSE4Good and leading national housebuilder position in Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). Re-consult with our stakeholders on the sustainability issues that matter most, building on our previous materiality consultation. We will develop a science-based carbon reduction target by the end of December Communicate how our actions are benefiting local communities by creating social and economic value.

Full site trials of CSCS card readers linked to the card database. Review our policy on dumper truck cabins. Mental health awareness training for Divisional Directors and Senior Managers. Extend medicals to more employees, and promote health drop-in centres in divisional offices. Roll out occupational health surveillance from Scotland to remaining UK divisions. To minimise our use of materials, energy, reduce waste generation and maximise low carbon opportunities in our business operations. WASTE REDUCTION By 2025: Reduce waste intensity by 20%, to 5.67 tonnes per 100sq.m (compared to baseline of 7.09 tonnes per 100sq.m in FY 2015). Ongoing: Maintain diversion from landfill at 95%. Ensure right-sized plasterboards are used across applicable divisions. Roll out stairwell protection system that prevents wasted single-use sacrificial joists. Deliver a prioritised supplier packaging waste reduction trial. Repatriate 275,000 pallets, and extend paint tin recycling scheme. Eliminate excess timber delivered to sites in joist and truss packs. ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND LOW CARBON OPERATIONS Reduce carbon emission intensity from our construction operations, offices and business mileage by 10% by *against a 2015 baseline. GRADUATES, APPRENTICES AND TRAINEES Maintain a minimum of 5% of our workforce in a graduate, apprenticeship or trainee role by Recruit 40 to our ex-armed forces programme. Work with HMP and charity bodies to provide work experience and jobs for ex-offenders. Continue to support career and interviewing skills at HMP Brixton. Continue to widen the use of social media to support recruitment campaigns and launch a campaign in FY19 for audiences who might not think of a career in housebuilding. Convert foundation degree into degree apprenticeship. Deliver planned recruitment of 117 apprentices.

To provide customers with high quality developments that enhance the community socially, environmentally and leave a lasting legacy for future generations. All completed developments to have a Great Places Silver rating by Seek to create a net gain for biodiversity in design across all new developments [where there is no prior planning permission] from OUR PLACEMAKING ACTIONS FOR FY19 Train local design teams on our Great Places placemaking design ethos through ongoing training, peer review and divisional workshops. Embed greater awareness of Great Places design principles and their value, externally and with our sales teams. OUR WATER RISK ACTIONS FOR FY19 Develop our strategy in conjunction with water companies and key stakeholders. OUR BIODIVERSITY ACTIONS FOR FY19 Assess sample of sites against our net gain for biodiversity framework, holding an internal workshop for relevant directors on implementation. We will share learnings and our approach with the key partners and divisional ecology consultants. Develop a plan to install swift bricks over the next two years across developments in key cities for swifts, working with the RSPB. Launch a wildlife friendly show home garden guide for developers. Undertake annual carbon emission reporting for purchased goods and services and identify priorities for supplier engagement on carbon and energy. 50% of our top 500 sub-contractors to be members of the Supply Chain Sustainability School. Ensure modern slavery e-learning is completed by all internal target audience. Continual improvement and innovative solutions developed in collaboration with our supply chain. Maintain 100% timber sourced from sustainable sources for Group timber agreements and to improve our score in the WWF Timber scorecard from 2 to 3. Barratt to achieve Gold level Supply Chain Sustainability School Status. Become a signatory to the Gangmasters Labour Abuse Authority s Construction Protocol. Input into the Supply Chain Sustainability School Labour Group. OUR TIMBER ACTIONS FOR FY19 Review and implement annual timber sourcing data collection process. We created a safe access solution to first floors with our flooring supplier. Wellsafe TM eliminates the need for wasting sacrificial timber joists.

An offsite garage component is lifted in to place. OUR ACTIONS FOR INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT IN FY19 Extend the use of timber frame, building 2,000 plots in England, Scotland and Wales. Roll out offsite ground floor systems to circa 750 plots. Roll out offsite manufactured garages circa 200 plots. Roll out large format block technology to circa 750 plots. Continue to engage suppliers on the commercial viability of light gauge steel frame. OUR TARGET To apply offsite based products and systems in 20% of our homes by Future-proof our product through investigating the potential for overheating in apartments. Implement Group-wide policy and guidance on electric vehicle charging point design, network considerations and installation standards.
