Because your business is vital to our survival, we are dedicated to ensuring your satisfaction. We pride ourselves on producing award-winning editorial and display content. The Maneater is published on Tuesdays and Fridays while classes are in session during the academic school year. We support ourselves solely based upon advertising revenue. It is our goal to continue this high level of work and assist advertisers in any way possible. We have not and will never compromise the integrity of our publication by exchanging the purchase of advertising space for favorable editorial content. It is our right to inform, educate and entertain students and faculty. It is our pleasure to work with the community in order to maintain our status as The Student Voice of MU since Circulation and Subscriptions The Maneater has a circulation of 8,000 every Tuesday and Friday throughout the school year. The Maneater is distributed completely free of charge to 70 news stands on the campuses of The University of Missouri, Stephens College, and Columbia College. Papers are also distributed to all 39 Greek houses, University Hospital & Clinics, and throughout the downtown district.

3 Display Advertising Local Display $6.50 per column inch for all Columbia businesses. 5% discount is offered for ads that are rerun. 10% discount is offered for prepayment of ads. 20% discount for university departments. Contracts for Local Advertisers Contracts offer frequent advertisers a discount off the open rate. The maximum allowable discount is 25 percent. The Business Manager must sign and approve all contracts on a semester basis. Contract advertisers are not eligible for prepay discounts. 4 Preprinted Inserts Single sheet insert $65 per 1,000 2 to 4 page insert $70 per 1,000 5 or more inserts $75 per 1,000 Minimum inserts of 5,000. Maximum of 8,000. Other discounts do not apply. The Business Manager requests a copy of the insert at least two weeks prior to insertion. Inserts must be delivered to the printer at least one week before the date of insertion. The promotions staff is involved with media relations, publicity events, and promoting the paper throughout the campus and the community. For more information, contact Krista Meany at kmeany@themaneater.com. Formats and Software Adobe PDF (Acrobat) files are preferred if all graphics and fonts are embedded into a single file. Color PDF s must be designed in a CMYK color space. We do not accept program files in Microsoft Powerpoint, Aldus Pagemaker, or any Corel software formats. If you create content in these programs you should convert the file to a PDF. The Maneater uses Mac computers. Although we can read most Windows formats, there are fewer barriers if you supply us with Mac formats. Credit Policies Advertisers must pre-pay until they receive credit approval from the Business Manager. New businesses must prepay for at least three months. In addition, The Maneater reserves the right to require an advertiser to prepay, or pay with cash, at any time. Accounts with outstanding balances will be billed the first day of every month. A 1.5% late charge per month (18%) APR will be assessed for bills not paid within 30 days. The minimum monthly finance charge is $3.00. If the balance has gone unpaid for 60 days of the invoice date and collection agencies are warranted, agency fees will be added to the advertiser s final bill. Expenses incurred by The Maneater during the collection process are the responsibility of the debtor. Credit privileges will be revoked indefinitely once the balance has gone unpaid for 60 days. At this time, the advertiser may advertise only on double-payment basis. The additional payment will be credited to the amount owed. After 90 days, the advertiser may not advertise in The Maneater until the bill is paid in full. A $25 service charge will be assessed on all returned checks. University departments, student organizations, ads smaller than eight column inches, political and going-out-of-business ads MUST PREPAY.
