This comprehensive, spiral-bound book also includes physician assistants, nurse practitioners, podiatrists, dentists, optometrists, physical therapists, hospitals and other treatment facilities, pharmacies and pharmaceutical reps, along with relevant government agencies and professional organizations. This extremely popular publication comes out every spring; distribution is about 1,200. Full color is available on cover and section-tab pages. For the 2018 book, the advertising space reservation deadline is Monday, Dec. 11, 2017; camera-ready advertising materials and payment must be submitted by Monday, Jan. 8, Publication: late April. Heartbeat, the association s bimonthly newsletter, an 8½-by-11-inch, black-and-white publication that typically runs 20 pages. It is distributed to the Alaska State Medical Association s membership of more than 500 MDs, DOs and PAs in Alaska. Occasionally, when editorial content warrants, as many as 1,000 additional copies are sent to nonmember doctors, clinics, hospitals and medical-related businesses in Alaska. Advertising contracts may be submitted at any time; advertising materials are due by the first business day of the publication months: February, April, June, August, October and December. Alaska Medicine, a slick, full-color, 8½-by-11-inch annual magazine. While it is sent to the 500-plus members of the Alaska State Medical Association, the magazine mainly is a recruitment tool that we also mail to hundreds of second- and third-year general internal medicine residents in the Lower 48. The magazine includes medical research and scholarly papers, but the editorial content largely consists of human-interest feature stories about life in Alaska, focusing on people who practice medicine here but have other interesting pursuits outside the office. The idea is to present life in Alaska from the perspectives of medical professionals, in the hopes of encouraging these young doctors to set up practice in our state after they complete their training.
