2 WELCOME from the Chairs Dear Colleague, On behalf of the (APSA), I invite you to participate in the 2011 APSA, to be held in Adelaide at the University of South Australia, City East Campus. The will be held from Sunday, 11 December to Wednesday, 14 December 2011, and is the major gathering of pharmacy and pharmaceutical science academics and researchers from Australia and New Zealand. APSA members and delegates have a diverse range of expertise, and have a commitment to teaching and research in the areas of pharmaceutical sciences, clinical sciences and pharmacy practice. This year s will continue to promote the research activities and achievements of honours and post-graduate students, and we expect them to have a strong presence at the. Our program promises to address the theme Science Informing Practice, Practice Informing Science. The highlight of the promises to be the presentations by Professor Edzard Ernst (Peninsula Medical School, Universities of Exeter and Plymouth), who is widely acknowledged as a world leader in the evidence basis of complementary medicines. Other highlights include Professor Ian Olver (CEO of Cancer Council Australia) and Dr Mukesh Haikerwal AO (former head of the Australian Medical Association and Commissioner to the National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission). Our social program aims to showcase some South Australian food and wine icons, and offers ample opportunity for delegates to network in a relaxed atmosphere. The venue for the is the University of South Australia, City East Campus, which is conveniently located in the Adelaide CBD, and several shops, cafés and restaurants are in close proximity, as are other attractions such as the Adelaide Zoo, Adelaide Oval and National Wine Centre. This proposal outlines an array of sponsorship opportunities for organisations that would benefit from exposure to researchers, educators and future academics in Pharmacy in Australia and New Zealand. 3 ABOUT the (APSA) The (APSA) is a professional society for individuals with an interest in the pharmaceutical sciences. The Association strives to promote and advance the study and application of the pharmaceutical sciences and to facilitate the exchange of information and experiences between pharmaceutical scientists in Australasia. Membership is drawn from the Pharmacy Schools of Australia and New Zealand, the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, and associated government departments. Regular annual conferences and short courses provide a forum for presentation of research and development applications from all branches of the pharmaceutical sciences. The Association has seen considerable growth in its membership over the past several years. Past APSA s in Adelaide have always attracted over 300 delegates from academia, industry, government and professional societies and hosted a number of internationally recognised speakers. This year's conference promises to be no exception to this trend. Page 1

9 IMPORTANT sponsorship information Sponsorship Conditions Payment Terms - 50% deposit required on confirmation of sponsorship. 50% final instalment required by Friday, 1 July A tax invoice will be sent. Cancellation Policy If cancellation is notified 90 days or more prior to commencement of the, all monies paid will be refunded less an administration charge of $250. If cancellation is 89 days or less prior to commencement of the, the deposit paid to secure the sponsorship/exhibition shall be forfeited but any payments received in addition to the 50% deposit shall be refunded in full. No refunds shall be available for any cancellations notified 60 days or less prior to the commencement of the. Notification in writing must be sent to the Organisers. To Confirm Sponsorship Should you wish to confirm sponsorship, please return the competed Acceptance & Deposit Form and return it together with the first instalment of 50%. Payment details will be on the form which also acts as a tax invoice. On receipt of the form and payment, confirmation will be send with a formal tax invoice for the sponsorship amount.
