1 Kate board member and State Representative Devin Carney holds the Oscar won by his grandfather, Art Carney, in The Oscar Night Party is the Kate s annual red-carpet benefit that honors our 12-time Oscar Nominated, 4- time-winning, Old Saybrook resident and namesake. Proceeds from this important event support quality performing arts and cultural presentations at the Kate throughout the year. From live music concerts, to children s arts camp, to films of fine art, and the MET Opera and Bolshoi Ballet simulcasts, these events help to shape the community that we live in, making it brighter and more imaginative. The Kate also contributes to the vitality of our region by attracting individuals and families to more than 250 events per year. This one-of-a-kind community cultural center hosts local theater productions, community performances, and business functions. The staff, board, and 180 volunteers are proud to be stewards of this special place that serves as an artistic home to both those on the stage and those in the audience. The 9th annual Oscar Party takes place on Sunday, February 24, 2019 and attracts a diverse group of loyal and local patrons who reside primarily in the shoreline and river valley areas. Nearly 200 guests will walk the red carpet, pose for a photo with a real Oscar, and enjoy hearty hors d oeuvres and beverages at this elegant and festive event.
