1 2019 Washington Area Fuel Fund (WAFF) Ice House Overview For more than 35 years, Washington Area Fuel Fund (WAFF) has helped neighbors in need families, veterans, senior adults, and thousands of others keep their heat on when they find themselves needing help. Whether it s expensive medical needs, sudden job loss, or other unexpected circumstances WAFF has helped thousands of residents get back on their feet without worrying about losing their heat. This year, WAFF is bringing back its Ice House fundraiser an opportunity for DC residents and visitors to make a connection with how truly cold a home can be without heat during DC s chilly winters. Many don t know just how cold an unheated home can get. In January 2019, WAFF is going bigger and better to create even more opportunities for area organizations to join together to support those who cannot afford to heat their home this winter. Working together, we can strengthen our missions and partnerships on behalf of WAFF. In 2018, our partnerships included Washington Capitals, WRC-TV (NBC4), WTOP, The Washington Post, and dozens of companies and organizations across region.

2 With our partners support the inaugural Ice House raised more than $130,000 providing heat to more than 7,000 individuals across the region. This year, our goal is to reach $200,000 and we would love to invite you to join us in our noble cause. What is the Ice House? The WAFF Ice House brings the experience of a cold home to passersby via a house made of ice. Complete with ice furniture inside, the Ice House walks people through the dire challenges you feel when you cannot heat your home, an issue facing thousands of residents across the region. The 2-by-3 foot blocks prominently display our partners, shining a light and thanking those on those who are investing in our community through their support of WAFF. New This Year! The 2018 WAFF Ice House, hosted at The Georgetown Waterfront near Nick s Riverside Grill and Tony & Joe s seafood restaurant, featured more 35 partners. New Location: We re moving to The Wharf, a premier destination in Washington, D.C. and home to existing venues like The Anthem. Since opening after redevelopment last year, it s estimated the site has attracted million people for events, dining and more. We re going bigger: The Ice House is expanding to a 10-foot by 20-foot this year, creating a bigger attraction for even bigger crowds. Expanded sponsorship opportunities: With our new location, we re building out even more opportunities to bring value to you as a WAFF Ice House sponsor! How Does a Partnership With the WAFF Ice House Work? The WAFF Ice House provides multiple levels of partnerships, whether it is featuring your logo on an Ice House block, participating in our promotional campaign with our media partners, sponsoring specific activities on-site, or even sending a representative to sit in the Ice House! Every way that you help will help keep a local family warm in the winter.

3 A snapshot of just some of the ways 2018 partners participated and how you can join in 2019: Ice House Blocks The 2-by-3 foot blocks prominently display our partners, shining a light and thanking those who are investing in our community through their support of WAFF. Color logos are available for an additional $50. Ice House Sitters Send a representative from your company to sit in the Ice House for 30 minutes to fundraise for WAFF. In 2018, more than 20 individual representatives took a turn inside the Ice House! On-Site Kids Activity (New!) Adding to the Ice House experience for families, sponsor a family friendly activity Thermo-Camera Photo Booth Combine the science of heat with a creative photo-taking experience! Ice House attendees will have their pictures taken with a thermal camera while standing in front of a backdrop (e.g. step and repeat) with your logo. Images will be shared with a customized hashtag via social media. Hot Food Tasting (New!) Serving as the event s exclusive food sponsor, host a specialty meal with hundreds of attendees young and old as they participate in family-friendly activities, and spend time in the Ice House. Partner Giveaway Opportunities Building on the Enter to Win contests last year, WAFF will help create and promote giveaways during key dates throughout the pre-event campaign (e.g. launch day, 24-hour challenges, countdown, awareness days). Winners will be announced and will be invited to the Ice House to collect their prizes holding a sign featuring your logo and the campaign hashtag. Giveaway items may include: Staycation Package: One-night stay and dinner for two at premier hotel in Washington, D.C. (values at: $$). Partner will receive inclusion in social media giveaway content, logo on donation page, and shared branding on walk the ice carpet section of the Ice House. D.C. Wharf Kids Ice Skating Lessons: Lace up your kids skates and win a lesson for two taught Monuments by Moonlight Tour: Win two tickets to experience the sights of Washington, DC at night in the guided trolley tour. Winter Apparel (NorthFace or Patagonia Jacket, Snowboard) Custom giveaway based on your customer goals

4 WAFF Ice House Sponsorship Packages May Include: Targeted Advertising: Logo and messaging inclusion across social, digital, print, and advertising assets (inclusion determined by level of contribution), reaching hundreds of thousands of individuals and generating millions of media impressions. Promotional Content: Logo and messaging across organic social and digital assets, which includes donation page, and collateral materials (e.g. bill insert, promotional flyers) Publicity: INSERT ORGANIZATION will be included in public relations materials generating awareness around the Ice House event. Event Materials: Based on sponsorship, INSERT ORGANIZATION will be included in on-site signage and branded event apparel (e.g. handouts, shirts, event signs). Endorsement: Gain validation with regional sponsors and organizations through a collaboration with WAFF. Recap: Receive a full recap of the campaign s success with accomplishments and support metrics to share with internal and external audiences Ice House sponsors were featured in The Washington Post and were covered live by NBC4/WRC, generating more than 5 million impressions.

5 WAFF Ice House Sponsorship Package Levels: Below are the range of packages to sponsor the WAFF Ice House. Ice Block Sponsor - $500-$1,500 Sponsor a block to help build the Ice House and have your logo featured on it (incudes promotion on the WAFF web page) Bundle opportunities: o Add to your sponsorship and be featured in our social media campaign content promoting the Ice House o Add to your sponsorship by adding your company name to one of our Enter to Win giveaways. Not only will you be featured in our social media campaign, the winner will pick up prize at the Ice House and hold up a sign with your logo on it and campaign hashtag. Sponsorable prizes include the ideas listed above, or we can discuss a custom giveaway to match your marketing goals. o Add to your sponsorship by becoming our kids activity sponsor. Your logo will be featured in the kids activity area (in addition to WAFF social media campaign content and the WAFF website).
