3 PUBLIC RELATIONS In 2015, the CTO public relations team generated local, regional and national travel stories with an advertising value of $42,043,171 and 1,384,088,090 impressions. The team worked with tourism-industry partners from across the state on story pitches and hosting journalists to secure major story placements including: TRAVEL A variety of Colorado winter adventure offerings from across the state in the New York Times An 11-page feature about the Gilded Age of Travel in Colorado in Smithsonian Magazine The Art Hotel in Denver and the designation of Browns Canyon as a national monument in the Los Angeles Times Flood recovery of Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park on the Today Show Taking a road trip on the Million Dollar Highway on Yahoo Travel MARKETING MATCHING GRANT PROGRAM The CTO awarded almost $400,000 in Marketing Matching Grants to tourism-industry partners in The annual competitive grant program offers financial assistance to enhance marketing efforts to visitors. Statewide travel regions, associations, organizations and other nonprofit entities that engage in promoting travel throughout the entire state are eligible for grants of up to $25,000. These grants are competitive and are awarded annually. For every $1 the organization allocates to the program, the CTO provides $1 in matching funds. INTERNATIONAL MARKETING In 2015 CTO s international team generated travel stories with an advertising value of $76,470,197 across 11 international markets and 1,517,391,336 impressions. The team worked with industry partners across the state to host 26 international group media and traveltrade familiarization trips and hosted more than 100 individual journalists. Marketing efforts were expanded to a total of 11 international target markets and Colorado s international tourism product was increased by 47% over the previous year.
