3 Tourism meeting Monday, June 26, 2017 Meeting was called to order by Kevin Voracek at about 4:35 pm. Prior to meeting it was decided to let the non-committee members that were present to participate in the meeting. In attendance were: Steve Bortz, Kristin, John Stephens, Shattuck, Sue Garvey, Tami Schluter, Janna Viscomi, Brian Anderson, Jeff, Woolen Mill, Rod Gramse, Kevin Voracek, Liz Holtorf and Nort Johnson Kevin asked for approval of last meetings minutes, there was a motion and second to approve. Minutes were approved. Kevin asked for approval of the financials, there was a motion and second to approve. Financials were approved. Nort mentioned that the lodging tax was up 4% from last year through April. There was discussion about where to do more co-op advertising. It was thought that there was more opportunity on the I-90 corridor going West rather than along I-80. Red Wing and Lakeville have inquired about joining Minni Road Trip which led to a discussion about what other towns might work into some touring with Faribault being the hub and then having spokes going out to Northfield, Owatonna, New Ulm, New Prague, Mankato, Waseca, St Peter, Red Wing etc. Mayor H in Blooming Prairie interested in getting involved as well. There was some discussion about videos. Keep going down that path. Rod said we should continue to buy keywords. John suggested trying to get some demographics regarding visitors that are coming in to such places as The Cheese Cave, F-Town, Woolen Mills, Historical Society, Paradise. The committee asked Nort to give them the cost per click. There was discussion regarding setting up some more winter events such as the Fat Tire race. EVENT CALENDAR NEEDS TO HAPPEN- BIG ROCK The Woolen Mill will share the bus schedule for their tours. Advertising and Marketing- there was some discussion regarding what we should be doing, such as more bill boards, historic signs. Janna suggested some signage that has Fishing, biking Now. Try to get people that are going up North or South to stop here. Paul and the Woolen Mills will meet regarding sharing the billboards. Billboard coming from the North need the trees trimmed. Are Hudson Wilson still a B&B Rod asked how much of the lodging tax is affiliated with Faribault Foods expansion.

4 Visitor Guide-perhaps an Image Gallery, pictures inside Woolen Mill, pictures of a bike group, photos from Rice Co. Fair and the Museum. The museum gets over 10,000 visitors during the fair. Nort is going to put the kiosk out there as well as maps. Branding was brought up but not any discussion. It was brought up to have some tour brochures around town. Have to find someone who could do it. Possibly someone that just retired from the city. July meeting is at City Hall on Monday July 24, 2017 at 4:00. There were will be a homework meeting preceding at 4:00. Kevin as for a motion to adjourn and there was a motion and a second. The meeting adjourned at 5:45 pm.
