AND DESCRIPTION OF MAIN EVENT Over the years BorderFest has transformed into a totally global event that celebrates a different country or culture each year. Entertainment and exhibits from these countries provide greater experiences and educational opportunities as the borders are expanded and BorderFest raises its bar of excellence. In keeping with BorderFest s mission of cultural enrichment, arts, education, and heritage preservation, the festival s goal is to bring the community together in a fun, clean, and safe family environment while at the same time educating its guests about another culture. A state accepted curriculum written by local teachers is provided to more than 7,000 students in three school districts to enhance their experience and the culture of the country celebrated each year. This year, BorderFest Celebrating Korea, with twenty tented stage and entertainment areas filled with more than 100 performing groups for all ages and tastes, for families, for young people and for seniors. Everyone had a great time with singing, dancing, arts & crafts, four parades (one daytime and three nightly illuminated parades), kids activities, a sea of food of all kinds, a full carnival and continuous family fun - all the things that makes the Rio Grande Valley such a special place, and BorderFest such a memorable experience. BORDERFEST CELEBRATES The Ultimate World Class Experience The diverse and unique cultural and musical heritage of South Texas and the border area, and the perpetuation of that heritage through musical performances, the arts, entertainment, education and participation. The more than 1,000 Volunteers and their experiences that help run the four day event. DESCRIPTION OF SPONSOR; LEVEL OF SPONSORSHIP (CASH/IN-KIND); DETAILS OF BENEFIT PACKAGE AND LENGTH OF SPONSORSHIP/PARTNERSHIP For 39 years BorderFest has been very fortunate to have outstanding sponsors with well rounded over-all participation including sponsor participation, volunteer assistance, activation, monetary contributions, cross promotions, advertising and other unique assets. No other stands out more for its contributions to the festival, aiding most in BorderFest s growth and success, than State Farm Arena. State Farm Arena is a 6,800 seat multi event center owned and operated by the City of Hidalgo, and home to BorderFest. State Farm Arena provides a perfect venue for the festival, with ample parking and paved space for set up. State Farm Arena is also a premier sporting and events center, ranking 1st in Texas for venues of its size, attracting approximately 400,000 attendees annually. The Arena, with its ample consumer base and marketing infrastructure, allows BorderFest to host some of the top concerts in the industry and provides a targeted marketing campaign to promote them. The Level of Sponsorship SFA provides is more than $210,000 in cash and trade. Details of Benefit Package - State Farm Arena sponsorship agreement provides the following: Exclusive home of BorderFest, which is the premier festival / event in the market that has drawn over 90,000 attendees, the numbers of which are reported to the event industry trade magazines for ranking reports. State Farm Arena is ranked #1 in Texas for venues in the same category State Farm Arena 8th in the World for venues in the same category. Inclusion on all BorderFest advertising, valued at $1,567,500 in Promotion of State Farm Arena by BorderFest at travel / tourism events, festival industry events and trade shows. BorderFest in turn receives: Permanent backlit signs in the arena bowl displayed during all events. Permanent BorderFest flag displayed inside the arena. Advertising on all indoor video boards 8 weeks leading up to the festival, which includes rotation of the BorderFest sponsor logos Length of Sponsorship: The State Farm Arena opened its doors in October of BorderFest is held the first full weekend in March, so the first State Farm Arena-held BorderFest took place in March marked the 11th year of the BorderFest / State Farm Arena partnership.
7 Best Sponsor Partner D. QUANTITY AND QUALITY OF SUPPORT TO EVENT BY SPONSOR State Farm Arena offers free rent of the building. BorderFest keeps all revenue sources from the four days of festival including food and beverage sales and all parking revenues. The only expense to the festival is the State Farm Arena assists in recruiting and hosting major concerts and coordinating their production, names such as: Selena Gomez The Zac Brown Band Demi Lovato Janet Jackson Aerosmith Jonas Brothers Brad Paisley George Strait Tim McGraw Lady Antebellum State Farm Arena provides access to the grounds a week before the event for set up and one week after the event for load out. SFA also allows promoting the festival using its in-house advertising capabilities including closed circuit television, exterior marquees, digital fascia boards, website banners, and use of the arena website, database, and social media platforms. Indoor advertising inside the SFA provides BorderFest exposure to approximately 400,000 people that visit the arena for concerts, family shows and sporting events. BorderFest also is able to use amenities, golf carts, offices, luxury suites for entertainment, and use of the VIP lounge before the event for dinners, meetings, press conferences, sponsorship summit and any other special events. The State Farm Arena VIP Lounge is used during the event as the catering lounge for all outside entertainers. The luxury box suite is available during the year for hosting and entertaining BorderFest sponsors. BorderFest has access to State Farm Arena key personnel including its Marketing Director, Premium Services Director, Corporate Sales Director, Operations Director, Box Office Manager, maintenance crews, and staffing services. The Marketing Department leverages its media contacts and buying power to secure the lowest possible rates for BorderFest s media relations campaign. The Arena s Ticketmaster network is used to send blasts to its almost 80,000 member database. State Farm Arena s sponsorship sales team leveraged their relationships with their sponsors to secure an additional $77,000 in sponsorship revenue for BorderFest.
8 Best Sponsor Partner E. GOALS AND SUCCESS OF RELATIONSHIPS FOR BOTH EVENT AND SPONSOR All of our sponsorships must provide a win-to-win partnership for both the sponsor and festival. As part of the sponsor solicitation package, we meet with the sponsor to determine goals / objectives, assets, and metrics for evaluation. We take these needs, and coupled with our own, the festival creates a sponsor activation package that provides the mutually beneficial partnership we feel is the right formula for success and longevity of the relationship. In most cases we use the State Farm Arena venue to create partnerships between our sponsors during our hosted events. A perfect networking scenario for industry leaders and dignitaries. State Farm Arena s Goals: BorderFest Goals: Reinforce its position as home to the Rio Grande Valley s premier events! Host events that draw large attendance numbers for reporting and ranking purposes Exposure of State Farm Arena through all media platforms across the market (U.S. and Mexico) Exposure of State Farm Arena amongst potential renters for the building in the event / tourism / festival industry To have year round-brand awareness of the festival with people from all across the market that have disposable income and an interest in music and entertainment. State Farm Arena brings all of its vast resources and assets to bear, and leverages its influential relationships in support of the festival, none more notably than the relationship with Live Nation - the world powerhouse concert promoting the company. This relationship has helped BorderFest secure the top names in the entertainment industry across all genres of music which has taken the festival to a new level, raising the market expectation of the live entertainment the festival has to offer. Since moving to SFA, BorderFest has hosted some of the biggest names in the music industry, growing our attendance exponentially since changing venues. No other partner has done or continues to do more to grow our event and its prestige than State Farm Arena. G. ACTIVATION OF SPONSORSHIP BY SPONSOR State Farm activation starts instantly in conjunction with our media campaign by allowing us to hold BorderFest every single year by providing us with a rent free location. State Farm Arena activation begins when we announce the host country of the year in our official annual Press Conference hosted by the Arena; followed by the BorderFest Concert Series announcement. State Farm Arena provides access to the grounds a week before the event for set up and one week after the event for load out.
