2 26 Times A Year... We Deliver Poultry Times is the only trade publication that gives a complete, timely picture of the poultry industry every two weeks. Begun in 1954, Poultry Times has grown and evolved over the years along with the industry. Based in the heart of poultry country, it is national in scope; regional in focus. Its readers come from all segments of the poultry industry, from the growers to the field service personnel to the CEOs. They all want the same thing: accurate, timely, concise information. Poultry Times delivers. Poultry Times welcomes news items, including industry promotions, business news, obituaries, research results, photographs and news releases. Letters of opinion are encouraged and will be printed at the discretion of the editorial board. All are subject to editing. Therefore, all articles to be considered must be submitted one month prior to publication date unless other arrangements are made, for example with our regular contributors. Poultry Times seeks to present news and features as objectively as possible. Much of our focus material comes from authors who perform research with a similar objective mindset. Therefore, we ask any speculative contributors to consider this objectivity in their offerings. We want to inform our readers about the ideas behind a subject, not necessarily a particular brand or company. All content is subject to revision for style. See editorial calendar on next page. Products Limited to two products per brand, line or company, 100 words, 1 photo per product. All product descriptions are subject to revision for style and length. Printing services for inserts also available. Production Requirements Materials 1. Digital files should be supplied on CD or ed, either as a PDF, TIFF, or a flattened EPS file. 2. All advertising materials will be held for one year unless other instructions are given. Electronic documents created for ads that bleed should adequately allow for the bleed size (1/4 on each side). A tip: build the ad document size to the bleed dimensions, particularly when preparing a file to be saved/converted to PDF. Color proofs (see Color section below) must accompany digital files. Digital files may be sent via upon request and verification with the advertising and production departments. Color Proofs for color ads must be a color key, cromalin or other comprehensive proof. Color sequence is cyan, magenta, yellow, black (CMYK). All ads cash in advance unless prior credit has been established. B. None of the terms and conditions of this rate schedule may be altered except as authorized in writing by the publisher of Poultry Times. C. Contract rates are available (not commissionable) to agencies for individual accounts. D. All balances not paid at end of month following publication are subject to a DELINQUENCY CHARGE OF 1.5% per month (annual percentage rate of 18%). Minimum charge $1.00 per month. Such accounts are also responsible for any attorney s or legal fees incurred in collection plus collection fees. E. Monthly statements stand as correct, as to space and rate unless Poultry Times is advised within 15 days from mailing of any errors involved. F. All rates are subject to a state or local tax if imposed. G. The advertiser and advertising agency assume liability, jointly and severally, for all content (including text representations and illustrations) of advertisements printed and also assumes responsibility for any claims arising there from made against Poultry Times. The advertiser and the advertising agency agree, jointly and severally, to indemnify and hold Poultry Times harmless from all costs, expenses (including reasonable attorney s fees), liabilities and damages resulting from publication of any advertisement placed by the advertiser or the advertising agency. Both Advertiser as agent and client as principal agree and shall be jointly and severally liable for all payments, rebillings, adjustments, and all other terms and conditions. H. The newspaper may require payment in full for any outstanding balance before accepting copy for publication or require cash payment with copy or both. I. It is our policy to review past due accounts to determine if a change in account status is necessary. General Policy 1. Publisher reserves the right to change advertising rates upon 30 days notice and all contracts are accepted subject to this reservation. In such event, the advertiser may terminate this contract subject only to an earned rate adjustment. Cancellation orders must be in writing. 2. Our creative staff of professional artists and designers are available to assist in advertising and/or campaigns. 3. Advertising which simulates editorial or news material must be labeled prominently as advertising. 4. APPROVAL Advertising copy is accepted subject to the approval of the Publisher. The forwarding of an order or advertising copy by the advertiser or its agent to the Publisher for publication shall be considered an unqualiied acceptance of all rates, terms and conditions under which the advertiser is at the time being sold by the Publisher. The Publisher shall have the right to edit or reject any advertisement. 5. CANCELLATION In case the advertiser fails to fulill the terms of this agreement by failing to take the amount of space for the required frequency of insertion and over the period of time as herein agreed upon, or if he desires to cancel this agreement the advertiser will be rebilled according to the actual rate earned per rate schedule. Advertising agreements for which space commitments have been met shall be considered automatically renewed at the rate in effect on renewal date unless cancelled on 30-day notice by either party. If space commitment is not met for contract period, advertiser will be rebilled to rate actually earned and will revert to open rate until new agreement is effective. Any contract advertiser by reason of using larger space contracted will be adjusted to the earned contract rate. This is limited to two levels above signed contract and is not retroactive to space already run. In the event of cancellation by advertiser prior to three months from effective date of agreement all advertising used will be rebilled at open rate. Cancellation orders must be in writing. 6. ERRORS Poultry Times will be responsible for rerun of ad for only one incorrect insertion in cases where the errors affect the value of ad. Advertiser should notify the newspaper immediately of errors. Under no circumstances will the newspaper be responsible for sale of goods or services made by reason of such errors in advertisements. When such errors occur, the newspaper will furnish an afidavit on request to be displayed where goods are situated stating that an error has been made. 7. Associations are granted advertising space on a tiered structure according to the percentage of membership subscribing to Poultry Times. Non group associations are required to pay standard rates as noted in the rate card. 8. Cancellations, changes of insertion data and/or corrections must conform to published deadline and be in writing. 9. The Publisher shall not be responsible for any errors in copy or artwork in advertisements received later than published deadlines. 10. The newspaper shall be under no liability for its failure for any cause to insert an advertisement. 11. Ads requiring respondents to send money to a street address or post ofice box in an advertisement are acceptable when veriied and approved. 12. Any advertisement scheduled to run upside down or sideways must contain an upright statement declaring Advertisement to run upside down (sideways) per Advertiser s request. 13. Advertiser assigns all rights, title and interest in layouts, illustrations, paste-ups and printed ads which represent the creative effort and composition of the newspaper to Poultry Times. Advertiser may not authorize photographic or other reproduction of such material without express written consent of Poultry Times. 14. Poultry Times will not loat an ad unless approved in advance by the Publisher. 15. Every effort will be made to afford advertising position requests, however, under no circumstances is position guaranteed and advertising must be paid for regardless of position. 16. BROKERED ADVERTISING The newspaper deals directly and individually with its advertisers and does not accept brokered advertising. 17. Any advertiser who intends to use the images or logos of a person or company not oficially afiliated with the advertiser, or written statements attributed to a person or company not afiliated with the advertiser, must provide a written waiver stating that permission has been granted to do same. 10
