3 INTRODUCTION TO THE CONGRESS The SPICA Congress, including Exhibition takes place from Monday, September 29 to Wednesday, October 01, 2008 at the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. The conference will be of major importance to chemists, separation scientists and engineers involved in product discovery, process design and development, production and manufacturing. This 12 th biennial meeting in the prestigious series of International Symposia on Preparative and Industrial Chromatography and Allied Technologies provides an ideal forum for the presentation of the latest development in preparative separation science and a platform for exchange of ideas between academia and industry. Besides the congress, which is being held in the Auditorium Max of ETH, an exhibition, poster sessions, and Workshops will take place. They are meant to enhance communication, and help bring together the different events and activities. It is home of the ETH, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. The institution is located in the heart of the city, near the railway station and the lake. All booths and exhibitor spaces are situated in places where people either stay for coffee breaks or receptions or where they pass by, so every exhibitor will surely be noticed by delegates and visitors during the whole congress. 7 BOOTHS AND RATES At the Mainfloor ETH, standardised booths will be set up by a professional exhibition builder. For different requirements and additional needs, kindly contact the exhibitor-organiser, Grass Roots Switzerland AG. Delivery of goods A time table with specific timing for floor preparation, booth construction and delivery of goods will be assigned and communicated in due time to exhibitors. 9 CONDITIONS AND LIABILITY 1. Insurance: Every exhibitor is responsible on his own for damages against goods, other persons and the owner of the hall. The meeting organisers do not take any responsibility for damages. 2. Force major risk If the exhibition cannot take place or has to be postponed in consequence of unforeseen political, economical or natural events, the paid amount cannot be refunded. 3. Changes After having considered all exhibitors, the congress organiser has the right to make space changes. 4. Assembly Any assembly has to be done carefully. Double adhesive may not be pasted directly on the floor. Screws and nails may not be fixed either to the wall or to the floor. If nevertheless damage should occur, the cost of repair will be charged to the responsible exhibitor. No storage facilities are placed at your disposal. The exhibitors are requested to kindly organise possibilities for storage rooms, packing material, etc. on their own. No packing material or waste may be left at the exhibit hall. The exhibit area has to be returned clean and undamaged. Cleaning of the booth can be organised on account every evening. 5. Food and beverages No food and beverages may be served by the exhibitors. Packed food presents (such as little chocolates etc) only on request. 6. Exhibitor/Manpower The exhibit responsible has to be present during the whole congress. 1 person per 9 sqm may join the conference for free. 7. Opening hours The buildings of the ETH are open from to on weekdays, from to on Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays. In general, guarding the booths is the responsibility of the exhibitor. Guarding by third parties is available on request. 8. In general The exhibitor is responsible for the control and guarding of his own booth. These rules apply to all exhibitors. Instructions of the property owner have to be heeded. 9

More details are available later or may be discussed individually. All prices are in Swiss Francs (CHF), valid for 2008, plus V.A.T. (presently 7.6%). Payment should be done 10 days after reception of the invoice. In any case of cancellation of the sponsoring contribution, the total fee will be charged.
