3 OUR MISSION The mission of the Walter Kaitz Foundation is to advocate for diversity and to provide resources to help advance the contributions of women and multi-ethnic professionals in the burgeoning telecommunications industry. HISTORY The Walter Kaitz Foundation was established in 1981 as a not-for-profit organization with the purpose of building awareness about diversity in the television industry. As program objectives and emphases have been modified over the years to meet the changing business imperatives of the industry, so too has the focus of the Foundation. While the Foundation s basic goal of advocating for diversity remains constant it has largely increased its efforts to advance the contributions of women and multi-ethnic professionals in telecommunications by serving as an advocate for diversity and a catalyst for change around diversity and inclusion. In 2017, the Foundation continues to provide resources for the telecommunications industry through targeted funding, along with its wide-ranging programs and initiatives. The program incorporates timely sessions and meet and greets with studio, cable network and production company executives while focusing on programming and creative content in the fiction and reality genres.
