3 1. ISY Installation a) Connect one of the included Cat5e cable to ISY s Network Port and to your network hub. Note: the network must initially be DHCP enabled. b) [Optional for INTEON Communications] Connect the second included Cat5e cable to ISY s Port A and the other end to the PLM c) If your unit comes with an antenna, screw in the antenna to the antenna connector d) If you do not have Java installed, please install the latest for your platform. You may find the latest Java downloads at Please choose the latest JRE for your platform e) Point your preferred browser to ; when prompted to authenticate, enter admin for both user-id and password i. If you are prompted with a Java warning, ensure the Publisher says Universal Devices, Inc. and the location is please check the box and click Run.

4 2. Verify Registration with PG&E s VTN a. Ensure the time is accurate (Figure 2a). If not, refer to section 9 for setting the date and time b. Activate My OpenADR Portlet if not already open (steps 1 & 2, Figure 2a) c. Activate OpenADR Registration dialog (steps 3 & 4, Figure 2a) d. In OpenADR Registration dialog, ensure that Registration ID is filled out (Figure 2b). If Registration ID is blank, please contact support Figure 2a Activating OpenADR Portlet

6 3. Verify Thermostats are Reporting a. If OpenADR Portlet is not already active, please activate it (section 2) b. Activate OpenADR Reports dialog (steps 1 &2, Figure 3a) c. Ensure that you see the icon next to all thermostats (step 3, Figure 3a) d. If you don t, please contact support Figure 3a Reports

7 4. Configure Load Shedding Strategy Revert option instructs ISY to revert device states to those immediately before the start of the event. If this option is not enabled, devices continue staying at states initiated by the last event. Please note that this option is also used within the Opt Out context: if the user opts out of an event, and when Revert option is enabled, the states go back to those immediately before the start of the event. Note: ISY is preconfigured with Revert Option disabled. To enable, follow step (c) below. Note: ISY is preconfigured with default load shedding strategies. You may skip this step if default values are acceptable. a. If OpenADR Portlet is not already active, please activate it (section 2) b. Activate OpenADR Settings dialog (steps 1 &2, Figure 4a) c. Check Revert option as necessary (step 3, Figure 4b) d. Adjust desired set point offsets for each Mode (Normal, Moderate, and High). Offset of 0 means that the thermostats will not change their set points (steps 3, 4, and 5, Figure 4a) e. [Optionally] If you have load controllers attached to ISY, adjust the desired Duty Cycle for the load controllers. Duty cycle of 100% means that nothing will be done to the device. Duty cycle of 0% means that the device will be off for the entire duration of the event Note: For Duty Cycle to work properly, you must configure each load controller with appropriate: Device Class: such as Water Heater Duty Cycle Period: such as 60 minutes which is the total duration for a complete cycle Please contact support for assistance in configuring your ISY with load controllers. f. [Optionally] If you have dimmable devices attached to ISY, adjust the desired Load Adjustment for dimmers. Load adjustment of 0% means that nothing will be done to the device. Load adjustment of 100% means that the device will be off for the entire duration of the event Note: For Load Adjustment to work properly, you must configure each dimmable device with appropriate: Device Class: such as Interior Lighting Please contact support for assistance in configuring your ISY with dimmable devices. g. Click on the Save button (step 6, Figure 4a)

10 5. Configure Automatic Opt-in/Opt-out Schedules [Optional] Note: By default, ISY automatically opts into events and will then require the customer to explicitly opt out. Automatic Opt-in/Opt-out Schedules allow this process to be automated per customer s requirements. a. If OpenADR Portlet is not already active, please activate it (section 2) b. Activate Opt Schedules dialog (steps 1 &2, Figure 5a) c. Click on the Add button to create a new schedule (step 3, Figure 5a) d. In the Opt Editor dialog, choose a date range and then the disposition for those dates (steps 4 & 5, Figure 5a) i. Please note that if you click End Time, you can create a date range that starts at Start Time and continues till this schedule is explicitly canceled e. Click on the Save button on Opt Editor dialog (step 6, Figure 5a) f. Repeat for as many schedules or edit existing ones g. 11 6. Commission ISY with the BBCS Portal a. If OpenADR Portlet is not already active, please activate it (section 2) b. Activate OpenADR Settings dialog (steps 1 &2, Figure 6a) c. Click on the Install Report button (step 7, Figure 6a) d. An installation report is generated and opened in your default web browser (Figure 6b) e. For each device listed a. Copy and paste the Device ID field (Figure 6b, step 1) into the Device ID field in BBCS portal b. Select the Copy and paste the VEN ID (Figure 6b, step 2) into the VEN ID field in BBCS portal. You might have to select the VEN ID from a list of VEN IDs in the BBCS portal Figure 6a Generate Install Report

13 7. Issue a Test Event Note: ISY automatically adjusts the clock on the thermostats upon the receipt of the first event a. In BBCS Portal issue a test event

14 8. Registering Additional Thermostats Note: Each thermostat comes with an Installation Guide. Comprehensive instructions for registering the thermostat with the Zigbee network are outlined on page 9. Following is the short version of the same. a. Press the Menu button and ensure that the next screen shows Menu Selection Schedules menu item. If it does not, press the Done/Menu button again till such time that you see Menu Selection Schedules (step 1, Figure 8a) b. Press and hold the two middle buttons till such time that you see the Installer Settings Display Lock menu (step 2, Figure 8a) c. Scroll down with the down arrow button and select Zigbee Install menu item d. Ensure you see Add Thermostats to Zigbee Network heading e. Choose Yes/Up Arrow (step 3, Figure 8a) f. If OpenADR Portlet is not already active, please activate it (section 2) b. Activate OpenADR Reports dialog (steps 1 &2, Figure8b) c. Click on the Register button under Telemetry Status section (step 4, Figure 8b) d. Ensure that you see the icon next to all thermostats (step 3, Figure 8b). Note: there might be few minutes before you all thermostats reporting again. This delay depends on how quickly the VTN handles requests

16 9. Setting Date and Time Note: By default, ISY s time zone, latitude, and longitude are configured for San Francisco. You can skip this section if these settings reflect the location of ISY. a. Activate Date & Time (steps 1 & 2, Figure 9a) b. For accurate sunrise/sunset calculations, it s important to provide correct Latitude and Longitude. If you don t have those numbers, you can use the Locate Me button (step 3, Figure 9a) c. Click on the Save button for the changes to take effect (step 4, Figure 9a) Figure 9a Setting Date and Time
