2 Extension Circular February 9 RED AND BLACK RASPBERRIES" Agricultural Statistics 96 to 9 Oregon by Counties Red raspberries are of material economic importance in Oregon. Cash farm income in 9 amounting to l,0o,00o exceeded any year of record, despite the increase in acreage harvested and smaller production than in 9. Although acreage has decreased substantially since 96, total annual production has held fairly steady. The price in 9, estimated at.7 cents a pound was around one-fourth higher than the price for the 9 crop and more than double the average price from 96 to 90. The Willamette valley produces approximately 90 per cent of the crop. As will be noted from the data on page, the most important county is Multnornah, which had nearly 0 per cent of the entire state acreage during the five-year period 99 to 9, inclusive. Ciackamas county had approximately 0 per cent, Linn county approximately per cent, and 7ashington county per cent of the state total. Small acreages are grown in practically every county in the state. 4 Black raspberries have increased in economic importance in Oregon during recent years. Cash farm income in 9, estimated at 76,OOO, compares with t00,000 in 99 and lo0,ooo in 96. The acreage increased from,00 in 96 to,800 in 9. The price in 9 estimated at. cents a pound was per cent higher than in 9, more than offsetting a decrease in production due to lower yields and a slight reduction in acreage compared with 9. Practically all of the black raspberry crop is produced in the Willamette Valley, as will be noted from the data on page. Yamhill is the most important county with approximately per cent of the total acreage; Washington county is second with approximately per cent; Clackamas third with 0 per cent; and Linn fourth with approximately per cent. Marion and Multnomah have considerable acreage, and smaller acreages are found in many other counties throughout the state.
