Increase knowledge for consumers regarding the effects of olive oil with health properties 4. Development of a standardised procedure for olive oil "Health Claim" certification 5. 6 STATE OF THE ART Intensive Medical Tests on the health properties of Olive Oil Particular Phenols associated with health effects ARISTOIL applies 3 different methods for Testing Phenol Ingredients in Olive Oil Creation of a Certification Centre ( 1 in Greece and 1 in Spain) Creation of a new category of Olive Oil the ARISTOIL/ MED Health Olive Oil Stricter standards than the current standards used by the EFSA in order to predict fall in phenols over time Creation of a MED Cluster for the promotion of new category of Olive Oil

7 COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES Organization of training activities and courses Organization of seminars of Olive Oil key actors Formation of Olive Oil Living Labs in all countries International networking event will be organized in Greece National Networking events are organized in all countries for the setup of Med Cluster of key olive oil actors Development of a Med Cluster of key olive oil actors (Module 2)

8 Lobbying challenges with SYNNGI Investigation of opportunities for producers subsidy within the new CAP (Common Argicultural Policy) contacts with DG AGRI Contacts with DG HEALTH & EUROPEAN FOOD SAFETY AUTHORITY (EFSA) for the intestigation of new funding opportunities to enhance research in the field Registering ARISTOIL s outcomes within the knowledge platform of FAO (Food & Agriculture Organization) Recommendations for highlighting the benefits of olive oil with health properties contact with WHO (World Health Organization)

9 SYNERGIES IN THE GREEN GROWTH COMMUNITY Knowledge transfer regarding the production of olive oil with health properties Sustainable agriculture (e.g. reduction of CO2 emissions) Product Quality Control E-tools and apps for the product promotion Methods for sustaining a smart Med cluster EU level green growth holistic model

10 Main Conclusions of the Workshop Challenges for the creation of AgroFood Cluster with health properties; Cooperation Potential, Collaborative Challenges, Competitive Trends Accreditation demands and difficulties Market Survey & Statistics on different consumer choices to investigate different consumer patterns and profiles (e.g taste vs health properties) AgroFoods with Health & Nutritional properties bear great opportunities, however there are high challenges before getting the products to the market Traditional AgroFoods (e.g. olive oil) carry the nutritional experience and sustainable practices of thousands of years which need to be integrated in modern practices After Project experience needs to transfered to key actors (e.g SMEs) for the benefit of the MED economy
