3 Background Dream Farm Kyakabunga Group (DFK) is a Non-Governmental Organization with a record of commitment and innovation in response to the need for poverty alleviation through Sustainable Agriculture and agro enterprise development for smallholder crops and livestock farmers in Uganda. It started as a Community Based Organization (CBO) in 2013 and in 2016 the Government applauded its work and registered Dream Farm Kyakabunga Group as a fully-fledged Non-Governmental Organization (NGO); registration No with NGO Board under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Location We are located in South Western Uganda in Kiruhura District about 200 Km from Kampala; with offices and a demonstration farm at Kyakabunga Village, Nyakashashara Sub-County 3

4 Vision Small holder farmers Meeting their basic needs Mission To promote poverty alleviation measures for smallholder farmers, particularly vulnerable and marginalized groups such as Orphans, Women, Peoples with disabilities through implementation of Sustainable Agriculture practices and agro enterprise development. Goal To enhance the capacity of smallholder crop livestock farmers to adapt to adverse effects of Climate Change through demonstration and production of appropriate area-specific innovations Specific Objectives To help needy farmers improve their cultural practices, social and economic status of living through acquiring practical Permaculture and Sustainable Agriculture. To train orphans, widows, disabled persons, people living with HIV&AIDS, elderly and vulnerable families in the community through practical farming skills in agriculture to generate income and improve their livelihoods. Encourage Value Addition for crop livestock products to increase household income Promote Gender Equality and Child Protection Core Values Dream Farm Kyakabunga Group believes in accountability, equity, togetherness, Integrity, transparency, innovativeness and sustainability 4

5 Key activities We carry out Training programmes in sustainable farming practices for family food security and agro enterprise development for income generation to guarantee sustainable livelihoods. Environment management is also a key activity for sustaining both the current and future generations. As cross cutting issues we promote Gender Equality, Child Protection and group dynamics. Administration Dream Farm Kyakabunga Group (DFK) is governed by a board of 5 members that decide on the strategic direction of the organization. The committee is a policy maker, approves budgets and financial reports. Day to day activities are run by the Executive Director, Jackson Kanuunu assisted by o n e project f ield staff, accountant, M&E staff, farm manager and one support staff. Networking Dream Farm Kyakabunga Group (DFK) collaborates with government departments like District production and Agriculture, National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) Institutes and we are a member of Schools and Colleges Permaculture (SCOPE- Uganda), which is civil organization of fourteen NGOs. Currently our work is supported by Quakers Service Australia. There are other development partners without financial support, which include; National Agricultural Research Organization, St.Jude College of Agro Ecology, Schools and Colleges Permaculture Uganda. 5
