23 Contract Seed Production Warner Seeds, Inc. has been a producer of Hybrid Grain Sorghum, Hybrid Forage Sorghum, Sorghum-Sudangrass Hybrids, Wheat, Triticale, Barley and Oat Seed for 50+ years. Our seed production fields are grown under irrigation primarily in the Texas Panhandle with the ability to winter produce seed in the southern regions of the United States and Central America. Trained seed production personnel are responsible for overseeing the management of farming practices and the inspection of all production fields on a regular schedule to insure our seed producers achieve the desired results. The Texas Department of Agriculture tests all lots and or production fields for germination and genetic purity via winter growouts and laboratory testing. Production Goals & Procedures We strive to select best geographic areas of production for each crop species to achieve both strong seed quality and genetic purity. Seed production fields are contracted with a select group of farmers who strive to achieve top quality, weed seed free products, which meet or exceed customer requirements. Customer Contract Options Forward Contract Production A forward contract is a contractual agreement between the seed purchaser and a seed producer to produce a quantity of seed to be accessible to the seed purchaser by a predetermined date. This option allows the customer a more competitive price, but the customer assumes additional risks of excessive inventory and maintenance of inventory if the seed purchaser's sales volume does not meet expectations.
