Content Just before this CCMI/080-day View to Future Forum Agricultural Machinery My view about the recent situation What happens around? What shell happen in future? Summary 4

10./11. June 2010 in Brussels Future Forum Agricultural Machinery 2020 Out of that Report > big base of my input Additional contacts to my network groups Germany, Czech-Republic, Austria 5

Some points about countries: Eastern European workers have to fight for most fundamental workers rights Workers in the old EU Member States have more developed labor standards Production and product prices between East/West are nearly comparable Wage levels are not in the same situation 6

The sector: Agricultural Machinery is core segment of Europe s mechanical engineering industry 24,500 companies and more than 2.6 million directly employed persons 36% of the world market volume - Europe is the world's largest producer and exporter of machineries two major sub-sectors manufacture of agricultural tractors manufacture of agricultural and forestry machinery 7

Statement to working conditions temporary agency work is increasing, permanent is decreasing that is leading to a reductions in income insufficient investment in workers expertise, skills and qualifications The mainly small and medium sized companies in the sector needs access to liquidity and financing a philosophy of quality jobs instead of cost-driven labour policies is required Better instead Cheaper! should be the way 9

Statement to networking worker representative bodies requires time and real financial resources to be found in order to enable this collaboration to take place a form of information and consultation are integral components of the European social model the possibility to have a right to participate in - and found transnational cooperation - has to be high The report is available or for more information look at 10

Metal workers conditions in different branches and companies - face the same points increasing of precarious work pressure at work time flexibility and so on waves in production volume are not only to handle by the employees work times Where are than the differences to the Agricultural Machinery sector? 11

At the farmers world The structure of farmers conditions is permanent changing the way - only to have big farmers is wrong Low prices of the farmers products crises at prices is a worse point for investment planning Speculation on food prices accelerate that problem High speed at environment development increases prices on our machinery a lot Financial support to farmers should be possible (e.g. Tier 3 to Tier 4) for a certain time for this phase. Changes on environmental developments should be supported for the time of change 12

At the farmers world Relation between farmers and work up industry Pressure on products prices Because of earning situation smaller invests in machinery Work is given to contractors invest calculation is stronger Contractors more cost orientated Farmers and contractors are looking for new work areas Trade own products or work up it by their own Look at jobs on transport aso. 13

At the farmers world Point of decision is coming To stay for food production or for bio-energy. Is it possible to work for both? New products in machinery necessary or possible for machinery producer 14

Agricultural machinery is an investment product Strong connection food prices, farmers income and investment Directly influence of orders to producers Farmers buy more conservative when result is OK they buy This is one reason of a very seasonal sale decision Sales depending on support out of the EU-Budget Increase the seasonal sales waves A future question is: On which point is the EU-support best working? 15

Support Earning on products Support Possible Invest Possible money for farmers products Getable prices on Agri- Machinery Support Agri-Machinery producer Wages of workers Support Where ever support is given is not as important as it given for the core work of farmers 16

Clear and follow able EU-support politics in Agricultural-Budget This will help the farmers to decide what way they will go Support should focus the investing farmers for their core work Should be given for work on landscape and nature Should have a focus about renewable primary products This all will.. help the Agri-Machinery producer what to develop 17

General EU-Support To companies which develop products for sustainability e.g. low pressure of the machinery to the soil Companies who work for the quality at work places and to give high education and Know How to their employees Companies with the target to have green orientated logistic on production ways The change to come closer to the so called green jobs 18

The EU shell develop forms to have budgets for Networking groups to increase the social dialog within the industrial branches (also on small and middle sized companies) Based on export volume in and between the companies of the same group or in the branch Or other ways to set basic instruments for similar points to collect money for that focus A vision coming up by myself during the preparation of that slides 19

EU-Agricultural support should be reduced for The work up industry of farmers products For companies who trade the farmers products Big contractors company which are fare from farmers core work Farmers which invest in others than the core work EU-Legislation with a strong focus on products from abroad Not in line with EU-Regulative, according environment, secureness for persons has to be not allowed 20

The EENAM report is free to transmit Metal workers at Agricultural Machinery have as same necessity as in other branches A big influence on our work possibilities (volumes) is coming from the EU-Agricultural budget The core work of the farmers should be at a earning level to survive and should be supported 21

Green jobs and machinery for renewable products are positive for our branch All forms of clear, basic instruments to educate workers, to have green oriented processes, to allow networking for social dialogs are positive for future steps. 22

If the Agricultural support systems of the EU is clearly and mainly focused on the farmers core work, the competition between companies is the normal life, to develop new future ideas for a green world. Better networking of workers representatives of small/middle companies should be supported (for social dialog) 23 This is a first view from my side
