1 M E M O R A N D U M TO: Cattle Feeders, Order Buyers, and Backgrounder/Feeder Buyers FROM: Kevin Shaffer Dave Seymour Extension Livestock Specialist Pendleton Co. Extension Agent (Office) (Office) (Cell) (Home) Kevin.Shaffer@mail.wvu.edu Dave.Seymour@mail.wvu.edu DATE: September 18, 2018 RE: WV Quality Assurance Feeder Cattle Sale September 28, :00 PM (EDT) Tel-o-auction Number: Passcode: # The 2018 WV Quality Assurance Feeder Cattle Marketing Program Sale will offer 2200 steers and 1150 heifers on September 28, 2018 at 1:00 PM (EST). Interested individuals can follow the sale live online at Please note that online bidding is not available, so buyers not in attendance must bid via phone. Prior to the sale, prospective buyers should call (304) or (304) to receive tel-o-auction information and a bidder s number. West Virginia Quality Assurance feeder cattle have a reputation of excellent performance in the feedlot and on the rail, and the WVQA sale will feature some of the highest quality feeder cattle available. All calves stem from performance tested and/or proven genetics and originate from herds employing comprehensive herd health programs. All calves have been vaccinated according to one of the WV BQA herd health protocols found on the following page. Please review the health protocols so you are familiar with the designations for each lot. Each load of calves within a respective lot will be offered separately (A, B, C, etc.). Because calves will be sold in order of increasing advertised load average weight, we have provided a sale order for your reference. Please note that loads will be filled heavy to light, so the lightest loads may vary from the advertised number of head. There are several partial loads of lighter calves that will be great to background, but please be mindful of advertised pick-up dates and conditions. This sale is being conducted in cooperation with several local livestock markets, so please feel free to contact the consignors or their designated marketing representative with questions or to preview cattle. To reserve a position on the tel-o-auction, please direct your calls to Kevin Shaffer or Dave Seymour. As always, we appreciate your continued interest in West Virginia feeder cattle. 1 The use of trade names or product names does not imply endorsement by the WVU Extension Service. 2 West Virginia University and the Livestock Markets are serving as facilitators for the sale of these cattle and make no guarantees for the performance or health of the cattle nor do they assume any liabilities legal or otherwise. 3 All cattle traditionally marketed through the Buckhannon QA Sale or Eastern Panhandle QA sales will be offered. Eastern Panhandle producers and buyers will convene at the Franklin Community Building while the Buckhannon sale will be held at the Hickory House Event Center in Weston at the intersection of US RT. 19N and Jackson s Mill Rd.
