1 Energy from Waste and Wood Data Questionnaire Thomas Mullan 5th Year Masters in Civil & Environmental Engineering Thesis Research The University of Edinburgh Name: Estate/Company: Position in Company: Date Completed (dd.mm.yyyy): Contact Details: Address: Telephone: Notes: I can be contacted on my personal , tommullan6@hotmail.com Please answer all the questions you feel comfortable with answering. Please circle yes/no answers. With regard to land area, either hecatres or acres (or both) can be filled in as I can do the conversion. If a crop is annual but has a main season, please fill in both, including seasonal data in the annual data. For example, if Seasonal yield = 4000 kg and Non seasonal yield = 2000 kg then Annual yield = 6000 kg. The main purpose of this questionnaire is to establish what waste products and by-products are assosciated with commercial agriculture in your area. Therefore, there are questions on crops and other miscellaneous products. The questions on areas of cultivation and yield are to enable relationships between these and the amount of waste and by-products produced to be established. Several templates of the questionnaire have been included, some of which have already been allocated a crop. The others are for you to add any crops which I have not included. The first template has been completed as an example with random information (not crop-specific). I have asked for names, positions and contact details as I need to reference and explain where I obtained my data. Please provide as accurate information as is reasonable. If you do not grow a crop with a labelled template below, ignore the template. Please include Timber as a crop as I will look into its potential for energy production. Again, questions on area of estate and cultivated area are to enable possible relationships to be identified. Any information you are not comfortable with providing is understood. 1 Man day = 1 labour unit per day Examples of crops and their by-products and/or waste: Tea Macadamia Nuts Tobbacco Timber (i.e. Eucalyptus) Coffee Maize Livestock and Poultry Green leaf spillage, Reject green leaf, fibre, dust, Overwhithered leaf.
