4 (3) Goose is a kind of poultry, having high-price, easy to raise, fast- growing with high feed conversion ratio. Goose can adapt its behaviour to surrounding conditions. Currently, the trend of goose consumption has been increasing. Therefore, the Agricultural Standard Committee deems it necessary to establish the Good Agricultural Practices for Goose Farm for relevant parties so as to obtain safe produce for consumption. This standard is based on the following documents: TAS Thai Agricultural Standard on Good Agricultural Practices for Broiler Farm. 5 NOTIFICATION OF THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND COOPERATIVES ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THAI AGRICULTURAL STANDARD: GOOD AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES FOR GOOSE FARM UNDER THE AGRICULTURAL STANDARDS ACT B.E (2008) Whereas the Agricultural Standards Committee deems it necessary to establish a Thai agricultural standard on good agricultural practices for goose farm as a voluntary standard in accordance with the Agricultural Standards Act B.E (2008) to promote such agricultural commodity so as to meet its standard on quality and safety, By virtue of Sections 5, 15 and 16 of the Agricultural Standards Act B.E (2008) and the decision of the Agricultural Standards Committee at the Fourth Session dated 29 December B.E 2557 (2014), the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives hereby issues this Notification on the Establishment of Thai Agricultural Standard: Good Agricultural Practices for Goose Farm (TAS ) as a voluntary standard, details of which are attached herewith. 6 TAS THAI AGRICULTURAL STANDARD GOOD AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES FOR GOOSE FARM 1. SCOPE This Thai agricultural standard establishes criteria on good agricultural practices for the production of goose (meat-type and breeder). The compliance criteria include farm components, feed, water, management of farm, animal health, animal welfare, environment and recording to obtain healthy geese that are safe for consumption. 2. DEFINITIONS For the purpose of this standard: 2.1 Goose means poultry of the Anser spp. of the Anatidae family Meat-type goose means goose raised for meat and its products for human consumption Breeder goose means grandparent stock or parent stock that can produce fertile eggs to yield goslings of good quality. 2.2 Goose farm means an establishment for commercial goose raising covering areas for raising, feed storage and preparation, carcass disposal, garbage gathering, buildings, office and residence. 2.3 Goose house means a building with or without controlled environment used for raising geese. 3. COMPLIANCE CRITERIA Compliance criteria are as in Table 1: Table 1 Compliance criteria Item 1. Farm component 1.1 Location Compliance criteria Farm shall be located in the environment that poses no risk of contamination from physical, chemical, and biological hazards. Farm shall be supplied with water adequate for raising geese Farm shall be located in an area appropriate for raising geese.

7 TAS Item 1.2 Farm lay-out Compliance criteria Farm lay out shall be designed to enable hygienic practices. The operation areas shall be clearly separated Farm size shall be appropriate for goose raising and shall not cause any problem to the environment Raising area shall be fenced Raising area shall be separated from residential area. 1.3 Goose house Goose house shall have a strong structure, not cause harms to geese and workers. It shall be easy to clean and maintain and well ventilated Goose house shall be have sufficient space for raising geese. 2. Feed 2.1 Feed shall be of quality in compliance with the Animal Feed Quality Control Act. 2.2 In case of on farm feed preparation, prohibited substances shall not be used in accordance with Animal Feed Quality Control Act. 2.3 Concentrated feed shall be preliminarily checked for physical quality. Samples shall be taken for analysis, in case of problems or doubts. 2.4 Feed storage area shall be available and separated. Feed shall be stored in a protective manner to prevent contamination and deterioration. 2.5 Each goose shall have access to sufficient forage and concentrated feed of quality, suitable for its age. 3. Water 3.1 Water for geese and on farm use shall be of suitable quality for each purpose of use. 3.2 Each goose shall have access to sufficient water. 3.3 On farm water source shall be located in the area where there is no risk of hazardous contamination. Proper management of the source shall be in place.

8 3 TAS Item Compliance criteria 3.4 In case where public water source is used, preventive measures shall be in place to control disease spreading through water. 4. Farm management 4.1 Farm management manual 4.2 Personnel Farm management manual shall be made available, containing details on main operations i.e. raising system, feed, water, management of farm, animal health, animal welfare and environment Number of personnel shall be appropriate to the number of geese. Duty and responsibility of those personnel shall be clearly assigned Personnel responsible for goose raising shall have knowledge and be properly trained to effectively manage the goose farm Farm supervisor specialized in animal husbandry or trained personnel on animal husbandry or experienced personnel shall be available on farm Veterinarian holding the certificate of poultry farm to oversee goose health shall be available on farm Personnel shall have good personal hygiene and reports of regular health check, at least once a year. 4.3 Cleaning and maintenance Goose house, equipment and area surrounding the goose house shall be clean, and hygienic, and maintained in good condition to enhance safety for geese and workers After removing the previous flock of geese, the house and equipment shall be disinfected and vacant at least 14 days prior to introduction of the new flock, otherwise the requirements of the Department of Livestock Development shall be followed In case of breeder goose farm, bedding materials shall be clean and dry. 4.4 Fertile egg management Eggs shall be hygienically collected, and cleaned. Collected eggs shall be stored in an appropriate condition prior to hatching.

Animal health 5.1 Disease prevention and control Compliance criteria Source of geese for raising shall be identified Disease prevention plan shall be established by the farm veterinarian Prevention and control measures of disease that may be brought into farm by personnel, vehicles, and equipment shall be in place Goose health shall be regularly monitored In case of a disease outbreak or suspicion of an outbreak, Animal Epidemics Act shall apply. 5.2 Disease therapy 6. Environment 5.2 Disease therapy shall be supervised by a farm veterinarian in accordance with the Veterinary Profession Act B.E (2002) and its amendments as well as requirements of the TAS 9032 entitled, Code of Practice for Control of the Use of Veterinary Drugs. Geese shall be raised according to the breeds and allow to express their innate behaviour. In case of injury, sickness or crippling, they shall be treated in an appropriate manner, not cause suffering. 7.1 In case of discharging effluent to public water sources, the effluent shall be treated prior to discharge. 7.2 Garbage shall be collected in a closed container and disposed off by a proper method. 7.3 Geese faeces shall be managed by a proper method (such as making manure fertilizer) to eliminate odour and pathogens. 7.4 Before the removal of goose faeces and used bedding material from a house, disinfectant shall be sprayed to prevent scattering of dust. Moreover, during transportation, the waste shall be covered with canvas to prevent possible falling off. 8. Recording 8.1 Data on the main operations of farm management shall be recorded to cover the following:
