3 Wholesale Price Index in Iran (1376 = 100) The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) went down 0.6 percent in Shahrivar Showing the index point of 208.6, the WPI was 9.6 percent higher than the similar month in During the first six month of the current Iranian year, the Wholesale Price Index rose 10.5 percent compared to the similar period in The WPI, on the average, increased 10.6 percent during the last twelve months leading to the compared with the similar preceding period. In this month, the food group index went down 2.1 percent which was attributed to the reduce in the prices of chicken, domestic rice, fresh fruits, root vegetables and domestic tomato puree. In this group the prices of Persian Gulf fish, egg, domestic barley, leaf vegetables, domestic date and honey increased. The beverages and tobacco group index rose 0.2 percent. The advance in the prices of sheep skin and exported processed skin caused 1.3 percent increase in the group index of crude materials, inedible, except fuels. In this group the prices of non-forest wood decreased. The reduction in the prices of some items of petroleum and related materials caused 1.2 percent decline in the group index of mineral fuels and related materials. The 1.1 percent increase in the group index of chemical and petrochemical products was due to the rise in the prices of exported P.V.C, domestic chemical fertilizer and propylene and polypropylene. In this group the prices of imported drug reduced. The manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials group index and the miscellaneous group index went up 0.3 percent and 0.1 percent, respectively. The machinery and transport equipment group index increased 1.1 percent, which was attributed to the rise in the prices of trucks and imported parts and accessories for motor vehicles. In the special groups, the farm, livestock and fishing products group index and the building materials group index decreased 1.8 percent and 0.1 percent, respectively.
