John Atkin Chief Operating Officer

Sugar cane: comprehensive technology programs to meet customer needs Planting Soil pest control; field establishment; seedling quality and volume Cane from new plants Weed management; pest control; plant stand Cane from ratoon Maintain yield potential; longevity Harvest Optimal sugar/ton; operating efficiency percent increase in tons per hectare 16

Sugar cane: comprehensive technology programs to meet customer needs Plene planting systems Adapting and rescaling manufacturing to meet strong demand Biofactory increasing capacity to 6m young plants annually High quality seedlings and nursery protocols GM cane acceleration First field trials with herbicide and insect traits one year ahead of plan Targeting agronomic traits within 10 years 17

Thiamethoxam: yield and sustainability benefits 2011 corn yields tons/ha France USA Argentina China Brazil Russia South Africa Nigeria World CRUISER sold in >80 countries on >20 crops EU corn, OSR, sunflower: ~6% of total TMX Significant impact on EU growers: - yields: up to 40% lower Total EU annual economic loss: ~ 5bn No risk to honeybees under field use conditions Vigorous defense strategy: sound science, sustainability, economic benefits Source: USDA, COCERAL 18

Davor Pisk Chief Operating Officer

US water optimization: growing more corn with less water bu/acre 7.4% 5.6% Irrigation combined with genetics, crop protection and enhancement 200 Convenient management of multiple pivots 180 Remote crop monitoring ROI: average $95 per acre* % water 100% water Yield gain Water+ Intelligent Irrigation Platform Grower standard program Targeting 250,000 acres by 2015 Potential market: 9m irrigated acres * Based on corn at $7/bu Data collected from 27 sites with over 26m data points through combined yield monitors: Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas 20

Value-adding solution well received by growers While I realized not all the technologies in the solution are new, I was excited about their integration. This is my first time planting Garst. I am really surprised how well the corn looks in my toughest field, with my weakest well, especially considering the current drought. Syngenta field John Kleysteuber, 9000 acre farmer, Garden City, Kansas 21

Devgen acquisition reinforces leading rice position Seeds market underdeveloped No clear market leader Hybrids <5% planted acres ex China Significant growth projected Devgen hybrid footprint Established presence in key Asian markets Near term pipeline of leading hybrids Breeding program to deliver market-shaping portfolio Strategic fit Expanded toolbox: complements crop protection Accelerated implementation of integrated strategy Enhanced contribution to rice productivity 22
