ICOMOS International Conservation Centre-Xi an Founded in 2006 after the 15 th General Assembly of ICOMOS, and the publication of the Xi an Declaration An organization Directed and Supported by ICOMOS, ICOMOS/China, China State Administration of Cultural Heritage and Xi an Municipal Government Targeting the Heritage Conservation and International Cooperation for Asiapacific Region Focusing on Coordination and Communication for the Serial Transnational Nomination of the Silk Roads for World Heritage since 2009.

9 Major Initiatives to Promote the Serial Nomination and Heritage Conservation II: The Silk Roads Heritage Archive and Information System (AIMS): designed to support the Silk Roads nomination, and by studying the characteristics of the Silk Roads as a huge serial property, it also aims to provide information supports on heritage conservation, management, documentation, presentation, interpretation and cultural sustainable tourism. Collections and recommendations on online services of Silk Roads studies, and services provided by Silk Roads related institutions are as well included in the system. The Silk Roads AIMS welcomes all state parties, administrations,institutions, experts, stakeholders and individuals interested in the Silk Roads, it is expected to be an international online platform of Silk Roads Conservation, Information, Study, Tourism, Archive, and Promotion.

11 In In forming the general ideas of the Silk Roads AIMS, we took consideration of the nature of the Silk Roads: as a serial property, the platform should reflect the clearly defined cultural, social, historical or functional links of its component parts. And facilitations for people to explore by themselves are also indispensable. 12 We also took consideration of the diversity of the Silk Roads properties, and give them all an individual flexible homepage to provide services. Speed-dial interface shows links to the functions. Other than the pre-fixed ones, third-parties services could be added easily The third-party online services could be virtual tours, research projects or hotel/restaurant booking services. anything Knowing the importance of the tourism to the silk roads heritages, we have given The Service Info a very important part. Including open time, traffic and admission fee, etc.

14 Promoting Conservation and Sustainable Tourism of the Silk Roads Heritages Through Online Platform IICC-X has always recognized Sustainable Tourism as a driver to the Silk Roads Heritage Conservation A serial property may be defined as a property where two or more component parts are required to express the Outstanding Universal Value. 33 rd Session of the World Heritage Committee, Seville, Spain (2009) Any individual site could not express the complete value of the Silk Roads, therefore certain kinds of travel is indispensable for the study and comprehension of the Silk Roads An important way of safeguarding the cultural heritage is to enhance its connection with the modern people, which encourages them to act spontaneously

15 In 2010, IICC-X has co-organized the Silk Roads Revival Tour, with representatives of experts, scholars and national mass medias of China. Participants of this self-driving travel event traveled from Xi an to Rome, and visited the silk roads properties along the route.

16 Current Work We are updating the information of the component sites of the two serial nominations of the Silk Roads to the platform. [Kyrgyzstan-China-Kazakhstan; Uzbekistan-Tajikistan] The platform needs your support and comments to get improved. In 2013,We are majorly working on the archive and documentation part of the AIMS (the Digital Archive of the Silkroads Heritages). Collected and indexed heritage documents of the 22 properties in China.
