Remarks: The crop for the under review as well as do-date crop was ahead by 2.1% and 6.5% respectively across the sub-districts of Dooars as compared to corresponding period of last year. Highest crop gain was observed in Dalgaon sub-district (38.3%) followed by Binnaguri (8.3%), Nagrakata (7.9%) and Goalpara (5.9%) whereas crop loss was seen in Kalchini (19.7%), Damdim (14.8%), Chulsa (3.4%) and Jainti (2%) sub-districts. Both maximum and minimum temperatures during the of December were observed to be higher by 2ºC with compared to last year. Emergence of fresh brood of looper caterpillar has been reported. Margherita sub-district performed extremely well whereas Dibrugarh and Naharkatia sub-districts failed badly. Of course, in absence of crop data from Doomdooma and Moran sub-districts proper comparison could not be made possible. Rainfall received during the also showed wide sub-district-wise variations. Remarks: The crop for the of December this year has been higher in all the sub-areas of the South Bank region compared to the of December last year : Jorhat (34.53%), Sonari Nazira (21.51%) and Golaghat (7.46%). The average production of the South Bank region in the of December was higher by 20.79% compared to last year. The to-date crop of the South Bank region upto December, 2016 or the calendar year 2016 has been higher in all the sub-areas of the region compared to last year: Golaghat (16.38%), Jorhat (12.11%), and Sonari Nazira (7.04%). This resulted in a total increase in production of the calendar year 2016 by 11.96% compared to last year.
