2 Communicating the benefits of regenerative agriculture to a global audience Celebrating the farmers who feed the world Bringing together an international team of worldrenowned photographers, NGOs, the food and farming movement, and ethical businesses, We Feed the World is a unique and far-reaching communications initiative designed to demonstrate the many benefits of regenerative agriculture to a global audience. Over the last two years, 40 award-winning photographers including Rankin, Martin Parr, Marcus Bleasdale, Pieter Hugo and Gabriela Iturbide, have given their time to document the lives of nearly 50 farming communities across six continents. Curated by international photographic judge, Cheryl Newman, this has been a phenomenal collaborative effort to capture a snapshot of agro-ecological farming in action. Now that the production phase is complete, this body of work presents an unrivalled opportunity to dominate the mainstream media, social media and hearts and minds of the wider general public with a true picture of where their food comes from, and how they can support a food system that truly serves people and planet. The aim of these iconic portraits is to celebrate the small, family farmers who produce over 70% of the world s food, and to challenge the myth that we need an industrial food system to feed the world. By putting the spotlight on these men, women and families, their diverse backgrounds and landscapes, and their inspiring stories of agroecology in action, we will replace the image of the poor, struggling farmer with a true picture of the small farmers who feed the world. Furthermore, we will demonstrate how regenerative agriculture cools the planet, supports healthy soils, produces healthy, nutritional food and enhances community wellbeing. This extraordinary collection of 300+ images will be seen through a series of global exhibitions, launching in London in October 2018, alongside World Food Day. The exhibition launch will be accompanied by a book, a website and a global media campaign spearheaded by UK agency Greenhouse PR, who have gifted their time for free. The London exhibition will play host to a ten-day schedule of talks, events and workshops which will help deepen participants experience as well as galvanising the global food and farming movement. These will be filmed and shared globally so many more people can access the information. Throughout October smaller exhibitions will take place in the local spaces of every community we have worked with right around the world, breaking the Guinness World Record for the number of

3 simultaneous exhibitions. Packs of a selection of the images including their own will be sent to every participating farmer and group, helping to celebrate their success and utilise the images for their own local advocacy efforts. This will ensure that their voice continues to be heard, and that they feel proud of and empowered by their participation in this global campaign. Every pack will include a media toolkit and the global chorus generated by these diverse, in-situ exhibitions will be elevated through a targeted social media strategy. Further gallery exhibitions of the images are currently being considered in Spain (Ibiza in late October), California (Spring 2019) and South Africa. We have also had interest in a regional exhibition tour both in the UK and the US. We are also currently exploring ways in which to partner with the farmers movements so that the exhibition could tour globally to accompany the decade of family farming This would be a great legacy for We Feed the World. A comprehensive communications strategy, implemented by teams on both sides of the Atlantic, plus partners in Africa, Asia and South America will ensure that the images, their stories and the projects key messages are packaged for a wide range of audiences, and taken out through networks ranging from digital platforms to global mainstream media. We Feed the World is a bold and ambitious collaboration between the arts, environmental and business sectors, who have come together, for the first time, to share a story far more compelling than the propaganda churned out by the PR machines of large food corporations. The high profile nature of the photographers, backed up by an international media and PR team, the combined reach of the food justice and farmers movements globally, and the support of ethical brands, will collectively ensure we are reaching new audiences and preaching far beyond the converted. Furthermore, through utilising the power of extraordinary imagery at a time when social media and image based content is at its most prevalent, the project is able to connect with new, younger audience; the future generations who are most affected by our choices in farming today.
