2 What is the GFFA? GFFA is an international conference that focuses on central issues regarding the future of the global agri-food industry. Since 2009, it has taken place on an annual basis in Berlin during the International Green Week. At numerous events, the three-day forum offers representatives from the worlds of politics, business, science and civil society an opportunity to share ideas and agree on topics of agricultural policy relating to the key subject of food security. The GFFA will be hosted by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) in cooperation with the Berlin Senate, Messe Berlin GmbH and the GFFA Berlin e.v. Events Kick-off event The kick-off event gives an introduction to the GFFA subject and thus lays the foundation for the diverse expert discussions that will be held in the days to come. The key element of the kick-off event is a facilitated panel discussion. High Level Panels Two international organisations arrange individual High Level Panels each year within the GFFA; the results will be directly incorporated into the subsequent Berlin Agriculture Ministers Summit and the final communiqué. Expert Panels Various other expert panel discussions are offered under the GFFA by representatives from politics, business, science and civil society where individual aspects of the GFFA focus topic are looked at in more detail. Cooperation Market A whole range of different organisers present their work on the GFFA topic at around 30 booths. International Business Panel Discussion The International Business Panel is organised by GFFA Berlin e.v. and looks into the business-related aspects of the GFFA focus topic. 2
