Farmers around the world depend on our potash and phosphates to nourish their crops and to maximize the food they can grow on every acre of the globe s precious and limited farmland. Mosaic is uniquely positioned to help them. As the world s largest combined producer of phosphates and potash, we deliver value from mine to market: We mine mineral resources, produce high-quality fertilizers, and then market and deliver our products in every key agricultural market in the world. And we conduct this critical work with abiding integrity and excellence, for all of our constituents. It starts with the relentless pursuit of an injury-free workplace for our employees, and extends to agronomic insight and value for our customers, financial reward for our shareholders and a deep understanding of our obligations to our communities and natural resources. 4 WHY OUR WORK MATTERS The world s population is expected to grow from seven billion people today to nine billion by Over the same period, the globe s farmland is expected to increase by only one percent and yet it must yield as much food over that time as it has over the past 8,000 years. Clearly, feeding the world is a growing challenge, compounded by the positive trend of increasing prosperity in areas with the greatest populations: As Asia s middle class grows, for example, so too does the demand for more healthy, protein-rich diets. Producing one pound of chicken requires two pounds of grain, a pound of pork requires three pounds of grain, and one pound of beef requires about seven pounds of grain. The world s farmers face a multiplying challenge but also a compelling opportunity. And farmers simply cannot realize the opportunity without good crop nutrition.

6 HOW MOSAIC HELPS THE WORLD GROW THE FOOD IT NEEDS Our products give farmers a fighting chance to meet the global demand for food. Without the crop yield improvements provided by potash and phosphate, the billions of mouths clamoring for more food would go unfed. That means that over the long term, demand for our fertilizers must increase. We have the assets to meet the demand. We mine phosphate rock from nearly 200,000 acres of Mosaic-owned land in Central Florida, and we mine potash from five mines in North America, primarily in Saskatchewan. Our products are processed into crop nutrients, and then shipped via rail, barge and ocean-going vessel to our customers in the major agricultural centers of the world. In total, our team of 8,000 Mosaic people delivers nearly 19 million tonnes of product to approximately 40 countries each year.

Our agronomists work closely with our customers to help farmers maximize their yields. Together, we work to achieve balanced crop nutrition on every acre we want farmers to apply the right crop nutrients at the right time, at the right rate and in the right place. We also seek to provide the agriculture marketplace with everimproving products. Our innovation is a key differentiator for Mosaic and it s a key to helping the world grow the food it needs. Our MicroEssentials product a single granule of fertilizer that combines four essential plant nutrients is changing the way farmers think about crop nutrition, and its sales are growing fast. Our deep commitment to sustainability also sets us apart. We are dedicated to land preservation and reclamation, and to responsible use of other natural resources. For example, we recycle approximately 95 percent of the water we use in our phosphates operations, and we generate almost half of the electricity our operations require.

We have 8,000 people working to serve agricultural customers in approximately 40 countries around the world. Our largest centers of operation are in Central Florida, where we mine and process phosphates, and in Saskatchewan, where we produce potash. Our headquarters are in Plymouth, Minnesota.
