4 LEADERMED in Requested by the Ministers of Agriculture of Mediterranean countries Prepared by CIHEAMM/IAMM. Strong LEADER inspiration, For the south and east mediterranean countries, with cooperation between North and South areas. In spite of strong interest from DG Agri, no agreement from the Commission But LEADERMED has inspired Pilot Initiatives

5 ENPARD in European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development Aim : to make agriculture/rural development a focal sector in the cooperation of Mediterranean countries with the EU. Strong Leadermed inspiration

6 ENPARD 6 Assistance in preparing long-term agricultural and rural development strategies with all the relevant stakeholders, and in building necessary institutional capacities at national and local levels. Strong focus on civil society and sector stakeholders participation

7 ENPARD 7 Preparatory phase: January 2012 to June 2012 Start-up phase: July 2012 to June 2014 : Setting up of working programme, workshops, trainings, seminars to define and support national and regional priorities. Pilot programs A third phase of implementation could start for the period through a multi-annual programme based on two pillars: investment support on the one hand and means for technical assistance on the other hand

10 JESSOUR AND KSOUR 10 BENI KHEDACHE PROJECT Four development priorities : Tourism : creation of a specific offer linked with local heritage Local agricultural products Handicrafts Management of water with the support of Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Montpellier and the cooperation of a Leader Group near Montpellier

11 Some figures years of support by the IAM and the LEADER group More than 1MILLION Investments 50% in the frameword of the cooperation between the french and tunisian governments 50% public and private tunisian fundings. Support also from the canadian and swiss cooperation Program managed locally by ADD Médenine, a local association concerned by sustainable development
