In 1970 first reported 245 species of phytoplankton (primary producer) from the then East Pakistan. This report is the first for this country and was the guideline for further research in Phycology, Limnology, Hydrobiology and Wetland vegetation (Pub. No-83). 8. Outstanding contribution in Biological Science Discovered a new structure (tubular elements) in a Bangladeshi Blue-green algal cells. This finding was published in J. Cell Science, U.K. in 1977 (Pub. No-80). In 1977 developed a Blue-green mutant of a Blue-green alga through gamma radiation (Pub. No-82). In 1982 first initiated the research on the Role of Biological Nitrogen through blue green in Bangladesh (Pub. No-74). 9. Number of publications So far 85 scientific papers have been published in National and International Journals. 10. Isolation, maintenance of cyanobacteria in unialgal culture is being practiced with a view to use them as biofertilizer and to study their chemical composition and minerals contents and also to study their antimicrobial activity. Screening of N 2 -fixing cyanobacteria. Irradiations and Electron microscopy of algal materials. Investigation of the effects of different inputs on more fish production with minimum cost. Hydrobiology of shrimp æghers at Koyra, Khulna. Limnological Studies on industrial effluents with special reference to impact of major and minor elements on plankton community. 12.
