6 Innovation Support Services Rural development programmes offer: Innovation networking under the National Rural Network (set up or contract innovation brokerage services) Cooperation measure: using innovation brokering to set up an operational group and prepare a project proposal Support setting up of advisory services with a particular focus on innovation

7 Innovation Support Services Brokering function Coordination and facilitation of projects as an intermediate between partners Innovation advice / coaching and promotion of innovation funding Capturing ideas / brainstorming events and animation Dissemination of innovative results Connect with SME and other innovation services and funding

9 Objectives of the CAP (1) General objectives (art. 5) Cross-cutting objective: modernisation of the sector by fostering knowledge, innovation and digitalisation of agriculture and rural areas CAP Strategic Plans Member States shall draw CAP Strategic Plans, setting targets, defining interventions and allocating financial resources, in line with the specific objectives and identified needs. Content of the plans (art. 95) g) a description of the elements that ensure modernisation of the CAP

10 Modernisation in CAP Strategic Plans (art. 102) With respect to modernisation, the CAP Strategic Plans shall describe: 1. their contribution to the cross-cutting general objective related to fostering and sharing of knowledge, innovation and digitisation, notably: the organisational set-up of the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS) how advisors, researchers and CAP networks will work together within the framework of the AKIS how advice and innovation support services are provided 2. the strategy for the development of digital technologies in agriculture and rural areas

11 Farm advisory services (art. 13) System to provide advice to farmers and other beneficiaries of CAP support on land management and farm management to be included in the CAP plans. Shall be integrated in the AKIS, to cover economic, environmental and social dimensions and to deliver up-to-date technological and scientific information developed by R&I Farm advice should cover at least: Conditionality EU legislation on biodiversity, water, air and use of pesticides Practices against antimicrobial resistance Risk management Innovation support, in particular for preparing and implementing Operational Group projects of the EIP AGRI Development of digital technologies in agriculture and rural areas

12 EU and national CAP networks (art. 113) Objectives: Increasing the involvement of stakeholders facilitate peer to peer learning foster innovation and support knowledge-exchange and knowledge-building process Tasks: Collection, analysis, dissemination of information/good practices Capacity building Facilitating exchange of information between stakeholders Facilitating networking of LAGs, EIP Operational Groups, etc. Preparation of future plans...

13 European Innovation Partnership (EIP-AGRI) (art. 114) Contribute to achieve all specific objectives of the CAP by stimulating innovation and knowledge exchange. Objectives: linking research and farming practice connect innovation actors and projects promote transposition of innovative solutions into practice inform the scientific community about the research needs of farming practice EIP implementation based on Operational Groups innovative projects: develop innovative solutions based on the interactive innovation model bringing together partners with complementary type of knowledge co-deciding and co-creating all along the project envisaged innovation may be based on new, but also on traditional practices in a new geographical or environmental context. disseminate their plans and results of their projects, in particular through the CAP networks
