2 REPORT FOR SATURDAY 9TH JUNE A large entry for the time of year saw a solid trade for all types, with plenty of buyers in all sections of the market. Numbers are expected to be lower for the next few weeks as attention turns to silage and harvest. Store & Breeding Cattle A good number forward with plenty of buyers still about for all types of cattle. Cows with calves topped at 1575 for a second calved Blue cow with a bull calf at foot, with Hereford cows with Hereford steer calves at foot selling to 1300, all from Brook Farms; whilst Blonde cows sold to 950 and 900 from T Gawthroup, having run with the bull. In the stores, trade topped at 1325 for Charollais steer at 20 months from Brook Farms; Angus in strong demand today topping at 1185 for an 18 month old from Tim Hyatt, with others from the same home at 1025; S & R Wright sold Angus steers at 16 months to 1100; with over age Blondes from T Gawthroup selling to 1010; Jonathon Wisson sold Limousin steers at 14 months to 970, 950 and 940; F Lever & Son sold their annual consignment today, with Herefords topping at 780, 760 and 710; and William Robinson sold Friesian steers at 18 Months to 680. Heifers sold to 1100 for Angus at 21 months from S & R Wright; with Messrs Dickson selling 23 month Limousins to Calves - 26 The largest entry of calves for some time saw a fantastic trade for all types and breeds. Bulls sold to 400 five times, firstly for 2 Blues at 4 weeks old from David Roff; and then for three 12 week old Angus calves from AG Burton; other Blues from David Roff sold to 380; with Angus from AG Burton at 390 and 350. Heifers sold to 400 twice for Blues from David Roff; with similar types from Gordon James at 320; and AG Burton sold Angus heifers at 12 weeks to 395 twice and 370.

3 Pigs - 27 An entry full of all breeds today, mainly Gloucester Old Spot, Oxford Sandy and Black and Tamworth s. Trade very strong especially for younger weaner pigs. Gloucester Old Spots at 6 months sold to 50 from C Davies; with E Atkins also taking 50 for Oxford Sandy and Blacks. Younger Weaners sold to 38 for Gloucester s from C Davies, with others from the same home at 30; and KA Walker sold Gloucester x Tamworth's to 36 and 30. 4 REPORT FOR THURSDAY 14TH JUNE Just under 1300 prime sheep today with the largest entry of prime lambs so far this year. Still a good number of hoggs forward and trade for these seem to have levelled, for how long they are wanted will surely depend on the numbers of Spring lambs that are coming forward, which at the moment is around 25% behind on the year, due to the poor Spring. Ewes similar and not seeing the drop in trade experienced in some centres this week. Prime Lambs Sold to or 276p/kg Lamb trade back very slightly on the week, although trade still very strong for the time of year. Today s SQQ p/kg and all in p/kg. Best lambs as always in high demand and short for requirements. For best returns, lambs should be good meat and weighing over 40kg. Lighter lambs still wanted but slightly harder to place. Standards (32.1kg-39kg) Sold to 102 or 262p for 39kg Texels from Robert Law; with 38kg Texels from Julian White selling to 263p or 100, and another pen from the same home selling for 262p or 101 at 38kg; 39kg Texels from Caroline Dickinson sold to 102 or 262p; with same weight, same breed from Bob Swinfen selling to 101 or 259p; and 39kg Charollais from Mark Knight sold to 100 or 256p. To From Average 102 or 263p/kg or 228p/kg or p/kg Mediums (39.1kg-45.5kg) Topped at 119 or 270p for 44kg Suffolks from George Mayo; with 45kg Texels from Hyde Lane Farms selling to or 261p, with another pen from the same home at 42.5kg also taking or 276p; 41kg Charollais from Mark Knight sold to 271p or ; Kevin Lee sold 43.5kg Continentals to 117 or 269p; with 44.5kg Texels from Ben Smith selling to or 262p; 45.5kg Suffolks from David Chapman sold to ; with 44.5kg Suffolks from George Mayo selling for 115; and Ollie Brewin sold Texels at 43kg to 115 or 267p. 5 Heavies (45.6kg-52kg) Sold to a top of or 267p for 48.5kg Texels from Hyde Lane Farms; with 48.5kg Suffolks from the same home selling for 127 or 262p; Reg Bailey sold 49kg Texels at or 256p; with 46kg Texels from Caroline Dickinson selling to 123 or 267p; 50kg Continentals from Kevin Lee sold to 122; with 46kg Texels from Gordon & Harry Amos selling to 120 or 261p; and 49kg Suffolks from Ben Smith sold to 120. To From Average or 267p/kg 100 or 208p/kg or p/kg Overweights (52kg +) Just one pen today, being 53kg Continentals from Dan Burton selling to 111. Prime Hoggs Sold to 117 or 219p/kg Hoggs very much still wanted with a number of processors still splitting the kill between lambs and hoggs. Good runs of hoggs today selling to a sale average of p and an SQQ of p/kg. With new season lambs slow at coming to the market, hoggs are likely to still be wanted next week. Trade topped at 117 for 58kg Continentals from David Curtis; with top pence per kilo 219p for 48kg Texels from Charlie Randall. Best hoggs trading at p at all weights. Cull Ewes - 51 Sold to 99 A smaller entry with reports of seriously reduced rates, but not the case here with another good trade and a whole sale average of Trade topped at 99 for Suffolks from Rob Stamper; with Charollais from Paul & Terry Collins selling to 98; and Suffolks from Tom Hinch realising 91; Rob Stamper also sold Continentals at 88; ahead of Texels from Judy Holmes at 85; Suffolks from Grant Smith sold to 83; and from Reg Bailey at 81.
