36 RED BUTTE CREEK OIL SPILL Spill started in the foothills, followed the creek through open and closed channels to the Jordan River which flows into Great Salt Lake through prime bird habitat. Used ArcGIS to determine the path of the oil and best location for containment and absorption booms. Created maps for public meetings and the media. Used ArcGIS server to create web maps for the public tracking data for water sampling and air quality monitoring. Public Utilities Department used a GIS centric asset management system (Cityworks) to track costs of materials, equipment, and personnel for Chevron to reimburse the city for the emergency response and cleanup. Total Reimbursement to Public Utilities Department - $93,130 Total Amount from Chevron to Salt Lake City for reimbursement and future projects as of today - $785,600
