1 Republic of the Philippines Philippine Statistics Authority CAMARINES SUR SPECIAL RELEASE FARMGATE PRICE OF AGRICULTURAL COMMODITIES IN CAMARINES SUR 4 TH QUARTER 2017 Date of Release: February 09, 2018 Reference No Farmgate price of palay, other variety fresh and corn, matured yellow decreases in the fourth quarter of 2017 Drops in the average farmgate price of palay, other variety fresh, and corn, matured yellow, were noted during the fourth quarter of The average farmgate price of palay, other variety fresh, decreased from P14.51/kg to P14.12/kg this quarter. Likewise, the average farmgate price of corn, yellow matured, dropped from P12.91/kg to P9.87/kg. In contrast, the average farmgate price of greencorn, white, went up from P16.36/kg in the fourth quarter of 2016 to P21.96/kg in the same quarter of Figure 1. Quarterly Average Prices of Cereals, Camarines Sur: The Farm Prices Survey (FPS) is a national survey that gathers data on farmgate or producers prices received by the farmers for their produce. Data are gathered every month from farmers/ producers/ raisers. Farmgate price is the farmers selling prices for their produce at the first point of sale excluding any separately billed transport or delivery charge. 2 The average farmgate price of gabi tagalog moves up The average farmgate price of gabi tagalog went up during the fourth quarter of 2017 from P18.99/kg to P21.10/kg. However, the average farmgate price of sweet potato decreased from fourth quarter last year s price of P15.91/kg to P10.80/kg this quarter. Figure 2. Quarterly Average Prices of Rootcrops, Camarines Sur: Lower farmgate price of beans and legumes during the quarter Drop in the average farmgate price of peanut with shell, fresh, and stringbeans(long), was posted during the quarter. The price of peanut with shell, fresh was registered at P33.42/kg, lower by P3.59/kg compared with the same quarter in Likewise, the average farmgate price of stringbeans(long) was posted at P25.22/kg, lower by P2.47/kg compared with the same period in Figure 3. 3 Most vegetables post lower prices this quarter Vegetables posted lower prices during the fourth quarter of The average farmgate price of ampalaya decreased to P38.45/kg, eggplant long purple to P20.86/kg, okra to P21.37/kg, tomato to P24.62/kg, gourd (upo) to P9.47/kg, and pechay native to P29.39/kg. On the other hand, the price of squash increased to P13.98/kg and camote tops to P16.40/kg. Figure 4. Quarterly Average Prices of Vegetables, Camarines Sur: Most fruits register price increases Most fruits registered price increases this period. The average farmgate price of banana, green latundan increased to P19.82/kg from P17.67/kg. Likewise, the farmgate price of banana, green saba increased from P10.67/kg to P12.31/kg this quarter. Price increases were also noted for calamansi and papaya Hawaiian. The price of calamansi went up to P16.85/kg from P12.84/kg and papaya Hawaiian went up to P17.01/kg from P12.73/kg. In contrast, the farmgate price of pineapple Hawaiian decreased from P23.86/kg to P14.19/kg and pineapple Formosa from P12.85/kg to P10.02/kg. Figure 5. 4 Higher prices of industrial crops this quarter The price of industrial crops increased during this quarter. The average farmgate price of abaca went up from P56.69/kg to P64.65/kg. Coconut green young (buko) also posted an increase during the fourth quarter of 2017 compared with the same quarter in 2016 from P6.87/kg to P7.50/kg. Similarly, the price of coconut matured moved up from P7.77/kg to P8.73/kg. Likewise, the price of pilinut with hull also increased from P13.10/kg to P18.29/kg during this period. Figure 6. Poultry is a collective term for all domesticated avian for the purpose of food consumption or the carcass of such avian/dressed processed for human consumption. Price of eggs increases this quarter The farmgate price of chicken eggs, other breed, backyard and duck egg, backyard increased during the quarter. The price of chicken eggs, other breed, backyard slightly increased from 5.33/pc to P5.38/pc. Likewise, the farmgate price of duck egg, backyard also increased from P5.92/pc to P5.97/pc this quarter.
