Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra in collaboration with ATMA, Department of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka, Gadag district organised District Level Agriculture Technology Exhibition at Kailash Ashram, Hulkoti on The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri Jayendrapuri Mahaswamiji, Kailash Ashram, Bengaluru. Shri Shri Shri Poojya Dr. Tontada Siddharam Mahaswamiji, Gadag, Shri Shivanand Mahaswamiji, Gadag, Shri Jagadaguru, Shri Fakeer Siddaram Mahaswamiji, Shri Shri Shri Shivashantveer Sharanaru Cheekenkoppa, Balaganur participated in the inauguration of Farmers Mela. On this occasion, Shri H.K.Patil, MLA, Gadag and Shri D.R.Patil, Ex-MLA, President APMC, Gadag were present. Dr. L.G. Hiregoudar, Head and Senior Scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, briefed about Agriculture Exhibition and a visit was organised to various stalls. In the first stall various technologies and information related to cultivation practices of rabi crops were showcased. The Soil and Water Conservation Practices, Rejuvenation of Borewell and Openwell, Integrated Farming System, Bio-pesticides, Organic inputs, Biofertilizers, Vermicompost, Earthworms, Insect traps were exhibited in the second stall. The technologies related to Animal Husbandry like Fodder crops suitable for dryland, Enrichment of Dry Fodder, Mineral lick, Milking Machine, Hydrophonics etc were exhibited. In the fourth stall the technologies related to Farm Women like Less smoke producing chulhas, Drudgery reduction equipments, Varieties of Pickles & Papads, Terrace Garden etc., were showcased. The Nutritional Composition of millets, its importance in daily diet and the value added products of millets were exhibited on a large scale. The various millets that can be grown under drylands such as Foxtail Millet, Little Millet, Barnyard Millet, Kodo Millet, Bajra, Ragi, etc., were exhibited. The various value added products of millets suitable for daily consumption created an alarming awareness. Many farm women felt happy and were surprised after seeing the millet value added products. The IFS model with different components like Field crops, Horticulture crops, Fodder crops, Cereals, Pulses, Rain Water Harvesting structures, Sheep & Dairy Unit, Vermicompost, Azolla, Nutrition Garden were exhibited. The registration of farmers mobile numbers was made in order to send Kissan Mobile Advisory Services based on the season, crops, incidence of pest and disease, etc., The various agriculture implements like Spiral Separator, Mini Tractor, Sowing implement, Farm machines, etc., were also kept in the exhibition with all important information about their usage in farm operations. The Entrepreneurs promoted by KVK participated in Exhibition and made sales of various value added products and millets. The various literatures like books, brouchers, leaflets etc., related to agriculture crops and agro-enterprises were exhibited for sales and distribution to farmers. On the whole, the Agriculture Exhibition made good impact on farming community.

2 STATE LEVEL SEMINAR ON VEGETABLES ICAR-K.H. Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra in collaboration with ATMA, Department of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka, Gadag district and National Horticultural Research and Development Foundation, Hubli jointly organised Seminar on Vegetable crops on on the eve of Farmers Fair and Technology Week celebration. The programme was inaugurated by Dr.Ramachandra Naik, Head and Horticulture Scientist, Regional Horticultural Extension Centre, Kumbapur Farm, University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot. He said that, the Soil and Environment of Gadag district are more suitable for cultivation of vegetables. In this regard, farmers have to take initiative in vegetable cultivation by adopting improved technologies. The adoption of Post Harvest Technologies in Onion and Chilli production are important for getting higher returns. The Chief Guest of the function Shri Sahadev Yaraguppa, Deputy Director, KSDA, Gadag briefed about the importance of establishing Krishi Honda for enhancing productivity and income. Further, he said that farmers must give due importance for the cultivation of vegetables as it gives economic security to the families. Dr. Suvarna Patil, Scientist, Regional Horticultural Extension Centre, University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot spoke on importance of pest and disease management in vegetable crops. Dr.L.G.Hiregoudar, Senior Scientist & Head of ICAR-K.H.Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hulkoti briefed about the importance of celebration of technology week and farmers fair. Shri Madanmohan Diwedi, Assistant Director, National Horticultural Research and Development Foundation, Hubli spoke about the foundation activities. More than 400 farmers & farm women participated in the programme. RABI-SUMMER CROPS CAMPAIGN The Rabi / Summer crops campaign for the year was organised at ICAR-K.H. Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hulkoti on The information on cultivation of Rabi-Summer crops like Rabi Sorghum, Bengalgram, Wheat, Summer Groundnut, Pest and Disease Management, Organic Farming harvesting, Post Harvest Technology etc., were provided to farmers & farm women. More than 150 farmers participated in the training. SEMINAR ON CASHEWNUT ICAR-K.H. Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra in collaboration with Directorate of Cashew and Cocoa Development Board, Cochin organised Seminar on Cashew crop on at KVK Campus. The Seminar was inaugurated by Dr.T.R.Guruprasad, Former Associate Director of Research, University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot. He briefed about the importance of cultivation of cashew for climate resilient agriculture. Further he said that Cashew is one of the most important cash crop suitable for Gadag district. In this direction, ICAR-K.H. Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hulkoti is organising awareness programmes,

3 farm trails, demonstrations and extension activities for the farmers. Because of KVK efforts, farmers are growing Cashew crop in more than 800 acres. The Chief Guest of the function Dr.A.V.Desai, Principal Scientist (Horticulture), ICAR-Coastal Agriculture Research Institute, Goa briefed about the importance of Value addition of Cashew Apple. A farmer will get additional income of Rs.3 lakh/hectare if he takes value addition of Cashew Apple. Shri G.R.Odugoudar, President, Cashewnut & Mango Growers Association, Gadag briefed about the strengthening of association. Shri Shailendra Biradar, Senior Assistant Horticulture, Gadag spoke on various Government Schemes & programmes for cultivation of Cashew and other Horticulture crops. Shri Ishwarappa Hanchinal and Shri R.N.Deshpande, were Chief Guests. More than 150 Cashew Growers participated in the programme FIELD DAY ON BENGALGRAM ICAR-K.H. Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra in collaboration with Karnataka State Department of Agriculture and ATMA, Department of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka, Gadag district jointly organised Field Day on Bengalgram on at Shri Mallanagouda Timmanagoudar s field at Khanapur village of Naragund block. Shri C.B.Balaraddi, Joint Director of Agriculture, Gadag spoke on Cultivation of high yielding varieties like NBEG-3 & BGD for higher productivity. The Chief Guest Dr.B.S.Patil, Senior Scientist & Head, IARI-Regional Research Center, UAS, Dharwad and Dr.Vijayakumar, AG, Seed Processing Unit, UAS, Dharwad participated in the function. Shri Channappa Angadi, ADA, Naragund spoke on importance of bio-fertilizers. Smt. Prema Timmanagoudar, President, Gram Panchayat spoke on adoption of high yielding varieties and improved technologies for higher productivity. Progressive farmers Shri Mallanagouda Timmanagoudar expressed happiness about the improved varieties. Dr.B.S.Laxmanmurthy, Deputy Director, Karnataka State Seeds Organic Certification Agency, Dr.Mahantesh Mudanur, Seed Processing Unit and KVK Scientists were present on this occasion. More than 300 farmers participated in the field day.

4 EDP ON PRIMARY PROCESSING AND VALUE ADDITION OF MILLETS Entrepreneurship Development Programme on Primary Processing and value addition of millets was implemented with 3 farmers on The facilitation for marketing, the brouchers related to millets, product labels, packing materials, sealing machine & information on pricing were provided to farmers. These farmers participated in the exhibition organised at Taluk & District level and earning additional income through the value addition of millets. Sl.
