1 Ethiopia: Dashboard - Sector Response and Contextual Indicators (ember 6) The Agriculture sector started delivering seeds from mid-il for the meher season planting, which took place from e to September. As of end of September, about 97 percent of crop seeds had been delivered against the plans. The 6 HRD Mid-Year Review targeted 4.8 million school children for school feeding and learning supplies as well as,538 schools for school WaSH and 395 for Temporarily Learning Centers (TLCs) in emergency affected woredas. School WaSH in schools is currently under implementation by the UNICEF WaSH Section. Learning supplies have been distributed to approx..8m school children for the new academic year. In addition, Save the Children International (SCI) has begun school feeding and school WaSH in and regions benefiting 6,87 and 4,57 school children respectively. UNICEF has constructed six TLCs in region and additional TLCs are under construction in the same region. As of August 6, 78,54 persons (3,573 households) were reported as displaced in Ethiopia. By the end of ober, the cluster had more than 5,9 people (45,6 households) with emergency shelter material and household non-food items such as kitchen sets and beddings. In December the Food Sector is dispatching and distributing food under rounds 8 and 9. WFP completed round 9 in ember. The Government and its partners are dispatching and distributing an extra round of food in the Region to priority woredas affected by the new emerging drought, to cover the gap before the bridging round in January 7. In ember, around 437 health care workers in the country received training in various areas of health including AWD. In Addis Ababa, and SNNP regions, over 86% of children targeted for measles immunization were. All regions exceed the minimum requirement for the completeness and timeliness of data except and regions. As identified in the Logistics Gaps Analysis (il 6), the large amount of incoming humanitarian cargo has placed a strain on the existing storage capacity, and subsequently a need for additional warehouses and temporary storage facilities. In this regard, over 63, MT in additional storage capacity have been provided by the Logistics Cluster for NDRMC and JEOP use. The Logistics Cluster has also facilitated the availability of financial human resources on behalf of the NDRMC to secure a temporary surge in qualified staff. As of ember 6, a total of 98 additional staff including storekeepers and data entry clerks have been recruited out of a total of, positions identified. The recruitment of an additional 93 staff through the third party employment agency is also progressing with 7 out of 93 staff recruited in locations (9% of the plan). Overall, SAM admissions have increased in September (admissions 6,5 and 89.% reporting rate) compared to July (admissions,979 and 87.% reporting rate) and August (admissions 4,48 and 87.4% reporting rate). 47,48 children have been admitted with SAM in January - September, out of whom 9,9 admitted to inpatient care (8.% of total SAM admissions). In ember, all MAM beneficiaries admitted in the 3 regions of Oromiya, and received Specialized Nutritious Foods (SNFs). Children who have experienced or are at risk of violence, abuse, exploitation or neglect continued to be identified by social workers and para social workers in drought-affected kebeles, with,49 children (34 boys, 95 girls) identified this month, bringing the total since il 6 to,55 children (45% girls, 55% boys). was the region with the highest number of identification of such cases this month (8 children: 598 girls, 6 boys). Children separated from parents or regular caregivers also continued to be identified in the same areas with 4 additional children (583 girls, 659 boys) bringing the cumulative total to 7,839 (4% girls, 58% boys). The number of children supported to return to families has now 3,666 (,5 boys,,65 girls), while follow-up monitoring is needed to assess the sustainability of these returns. Currently, the IOD induced drought is greatly affecting the regions of and, and in response, water trucking activities are ongoing, led by the Regional Water Bureaus, assisted by UNICEF and NGOs. The WaSH Cluster is also distributing water treatment chemicals, as well as promoting good hygiene and sanitation practices to ensure the safety of the water. It is anticipated that the needs for water trucking services will increase as the drought season progresses into 7. Currently, the existing water sources are overused due to water scarcity, and as such, a significant percentage of safe water points are not functional. The WaSH Cluster will carry out rehabilitation of non-functional water points in order to increase access to safe water points, and reduce the dependence on water trucking. Additionally, improving the capacity of the community to manage the water sources will ensure that there is a better operation and maintenance system for the water points. Linkages will be made with development programs in the affected regions, for increasing access to sustainable water sources, which will include drilling of new deep boreholes, motorization of boreholes and expansion of existing multi village water schemes. In order to support management of the humanitarian response in Ethiopia, sectors have identified a set of response and contextual indicators. The monthly data provided against those indicators by the sectors has been visualized in the following info graphics. These visuals will help understand how the drought response is progressing and identify where issues are developing so that proactive measures can be taken SOUTH SUDAN UGANDA SUDAN Gambela GAMBELA BENESHANGUL GUMU Asosa Akobo Ilemi Triangle Omo Lake Tana ER IT RE A TIGRAY Mekele Abay Tekeze Bahir Dar Addis Ababa Awasa AMHARA R e d AFAR Awash ETT HI I OPP IAA OROMIA G enale S e a Asayita Nazret (Adama) Hareri DJIBOUTI Ji Jiga Shebele SOMALI YEMEN G ulf of Aden SOMALIA
