Rovadan trust have undertaken following community development projects during the year: A) AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS FOR FARMERS: Under agricultural development projects, we have undertaken the following projects (Table 1). This included 84 of 1072 and 972 acre of land. The details of these projects are as under. Table:-1. Detail information for different Agricultural development projects. Projects name of Village of Beneficiaries Area (acre) 1 Turmeric cultivation French Bean cultivation Strawberry Project Maize project Check Dam repairing / pipelie installation and agril diversification Turmeric project: This project was implemented in 3 of the Dangs districts. Total 17 numbers of farmers were the parts of the project. The main aim of this project was crop improvement and transfer of technology for better crop production and increase income of farmers. Meeting and training to farmers at village level was given by technical staff and simultaneously, kit distribution (seed and fertilizer) was done. Rovadan Trust Page 14

The project was support by Tribal area sub plan under Horticultural Department. In this project total 2.5 Acre areas were. With the help of this project farmers are able to know the crop cultivation practices for future crop production. 2. French Bean cultivation: The project was undertaken in the dangs district and 4 of 50 farmers. The main object of this project is crop diversification with more production of biomass and increase the income of farmers. Total area in this project was 12.5acre. The French bean produce was marketed in Nashik and Surat Market and trust is also helped in marketing process. The project was support by Tribal area sub plan under Horticultural Department. 3. Strawberry project : Rovadan Trust Page 15

This project was implemented in six of Dang district with total 35 nos. of beneficiary in September 2016 in 10 (1000 mt 2 ) guntha area for better production and increase the income of farmers. The total area in this project was 8.75 acre. The required numbers of runners for planting (4450 No) and organic fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer with plant protection material were distributed to farmers. The trust has also given training to farmers on advanced technology of cultivation practices. The growth and development of plant were found good. Farmers have sold strawberry fruits in local market. Tribal Area Sub Plan-Ahwa sanctioned this project & trust also help in marketing strawberry fruits in remote market so the farmers get good returns of their produced. Average farmers have earn Rs /- from ten guntha plot area. The additional income of Rs was also obtained by selling runners to other farmers. 4. Maize peroject ; This project was under taken in north dangs district area, where irrigatin facility is meager and farmers are dependent only on rainy season. in this contract farming we had selected 8 for maize grain production. The required inputs like seesd were supplied to farmers. The training on packade of practices were also arranged at different stages of crop. Harvesting and threshing technique were also demonstrated at the field. The production of 250 farmers collected at one center and payment to farmers was done on the same day. The collected grain are packed in gunny bag and supplied to expoeter.this is good project for the farmers Rovadan Trust Page 16

5. Water Resource development and lift irrigation Empirical evidence suggests that irrigation projects have positive impacts on agricultural production and the reduction of poverty for farmers. Irrigation investments increase agricultural production by increasing land productivity. No major, medium or minor irrigation scheme exists in the Dangs district. Therefore, farmers are totally dependent on monsoon and face acute water scarcity by March. Due to dense forest cover and the geological profile of The Dangs, major dams are not possible to construct in the district. However, government agencies have initiated schemes for constructing small water harvesting structures across the district. Due to heavy rainfall, water harvesting structures are in need of repair and upgrading. The damaged check dams cannot hold water to their optimum capacity. After repairs, their water holding capacity will be optimised, bringing water security during critical stages in farming cycles. With better and more reliable availability of water through check dams, the farmers have the opportunity to make a transition from the cultivation of their traditional low value crops, to high value varieties including vegetables. Agricultural diversification can be facilitated for these farmers by providing them assured access to quality seeds, fertilisers and extension services. The Trust has repaired two check dam for water storage for irrigation purposes Rovadan Trust Page 17

With the distribution of irrigation kits to poor farmers, equity in access to water is ensured. Typically, it is the wealthier farmers who gain most from check dams as they have the means to invest pumps and pipelines for lifting water from the check dams. However, by providing poor farmers with diesel pumps and pipes, equity in access to water is ensured to farmers, the trust has installed Lift irrigation system by providing pipelines and Diesel engine in each repaired check dam for ease of irrigation. Installation of pipelines and Diesel Pumps Purchase HDPE Pipelines and Diesel Pumps Installation of Diesel engine and Pipeline Testing of Lift irrigation Out let checking In situ checking Rovadan Rovadan A large section of farmers in The Dangs cultivate indigenous, low-yielding varieties of paddy since the changeover to high-value crops is expensive. By providing them, kits with quality seeds and fertilizers as well as extension services, they can cultivate highvalue crops and vegetables such as, French bean, okra, bitter gourd, etc. Distribution of inputs like Seed, fertilizer and plastics crates to farmers Seed and fertilizer Distribution Plastic crates Distribution Rovadan Rovadan Trust Page 18

Grading, packing and marketing of French bean pod by the farmers Cultivation of French bean crop by the farmers (early growth stage) Rovadan Rovadan The integration of water security, irrigation and farm level interventions will ultimately translate into better incomes for economically backward tribal farmers. One, they will be able to cultivate both Rabi and kharif crops, they will be able to diversify to crops that have better market value. Assured irrigation support along with crop diversification is expected to pull the participating families out of poverty. The trust has helped poor farmers by providing kits of input namely seed (French bean) fertilizer and plastics crates, for better crop production and productivity. The trust has also provided technical training of crop production along with package of practices broacher for better understanding and also helped in installation of Drip irrigation system for increasing water use efficiency. The trust also helped in marketing of produces too. The Rovadan trust has repaired two check dams, Installed two pipeline and Diesel engine set and supported in inputs kit of French bean crop to 125 farmers near Gundia village of Dangs district with the help of DGVCL, Surat through GCSRA, Ahmedabad The integration of water security, irrigation and farm level interventions has been translated into better incomes for economically backward tribal farmers, they are able to cultivate both Rabi and kharif crops, they have been able to diversify the crops that have better market value. Assured irrigation support along with crop diversification was emerged to pull the Participating families out of poverty. Rovadan Trust Page 19

PROJECT FOR AGRICULTURAL DEMOSTRATION: Nursery project: The trust runs 8 acres of demonstration farms for farmers at Bhavandagad. Where different crops are grown scientifically with modern agro techniques for demonstration of farmers i.e. agronomic practices are displayed in the field, such as date of sowing, crop spacing and method of sowing, uses of organic and inorganic fertilizer (method, time and amount of fertilizer) and irrigation practices (how to apply, when to apply and how much to apply) and harvesting methods etc. This year, we have undertaken a different crop demonstration i.e. Nagli, paddy, Kharsani (Niger), okra, tomato and maize at nursery farm. Bring farmers from remote of Dang and demonstrated them about improved method of crop cultivations.farmers of Dangs District has visited the demonstration plot and learned about the package of practices of different crops. It also employs several tribal people of Bhavandagad village and other surrounding. The total project cost is Rs /- Rovadan Trust Page 20
