Innovative Knowledge Sharing & Capacity Building Regional & in-country workshops on R4D & trade facilitation topics for value chain actors Writeshops for scientists and practitioners to bridge researchextension gap Intraregional exchange visits for farmers Policy dialogues with practitioners, scientists and senior officials and policy makers

Examples trainings & consultations Regional Climate Resilient Smallholder Agricultural Farming Systems in South Asia Electronic Traceability and Market Access for Agricultural Trade Facilitation Regional Vegetable Training Course Expert-consultation on research to extension linkages High-Level Policy Dialogue on Technology Transfer for Smallholder Farmers Visits to farmer fields In-country Postharvest Technology and Marketing Systems for Small-scale Farmers Sustainable Vegetable Production Systems Integrated pest management Bio-intensive pest control Translating research findings into knowledge accessible and understandable by farmers Cost-benefit analysis Identifying sustainable technologies

Intraregional farmer-to-farmer learning Intra-regional field visits exposed smallholder farmers to innovative practices in neighbouring countries Mother tongues may differ, but smallholders all speak the language of farming Farmers interested in trying out technologies on their own farms Floating cultivation in India IPM for bean farming in Cambodia

Lessons learned SATNET is a matchmaker match demand and supply for technologies and for capacity building on technologies Very high degree of interest by NARS (co-funding) Demand for trainings that: Introduce new technologies Improve the process of technology transfer (assessment of sustainability, how to undertake cost-benefit analysis of technologies, improve communication, how to enhance technology transfer) Give space for in-country knowledge exchange and platform for networking across stakeholder groups for specific problems

Lessons learned from training participants Desire for learning and sharing Happy with the network and this training is first time for me. I need to share the invaluable techniques and knowledge I learned from here to the communities using extension tools I learned from this training. (Myanmar) Awareness raising Vegetables was not really of my interest before, but because of this training, I realized how important it is and how important my role is in its development. (Myanmar) Demand for more and longer trainings I would like to have this kind of workshops in future and continue to attend (Pakistan) Extend period or duration of the course. More time for discussion. (Afghanistan, Indonesia)
