3 About Maharana Pratap Sansthan History Initiation in 1986 as Rajasthan Students Development union, Jaipur Registered as Maharana Pratap Adhayayan Avam Jan Kalyan Sansthan in 1999, vide Societies Registration Act 1958, No. 451\Jaipur\ Human Resource MPS is a family of 125 staff members consisting of administrative staff, field facilitators/coordinator and support staff MPS has a pool of resource persons /consultants who are accessed as and when required Offices; Registered office/ho Prakashdeep, Near Mayank Complex, Jaipur- well equipped with furniture, computer, telephone etc. Besides, MPS has two branch offices- at (1) Kishangarh, Ajmer (2) Sikar. These branches are also equipped with furniture and telephone.

6 About MPS Contd Activities/Projects executed Research Study- Role of tribal women wage earner in ensuring family food security in scheduled area of Rajasthan in changing environment and economic scenerio - sponsored by Ministry of Human Resource, GoI. 125 villages of 25 different blocks of five districts- Banswara,Chitorgarh,Dungarpur, Sirohi and Udaipur covered under the study Base line survey project in Newai block of Tonk district sposored by Zila Parishad/ DRDA Tonk. 50 villages of 7 gram panchayats were covered under the base line survey School Aids and Family Health Awareness program covering 40 schools in 3 blocks of Jaipur district

7 About MPS Contd On going projects Rehabilitation of Child Labour in Jaipur District under National Child Labour Project (NCLP): - in association with Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India & ILO Two centers rehabilitating 100 Child Labours 15 Lakh 3 yrs, Since Aug 2006 Total Sanitation Campaign: - in Amber block of Jaipur district in association with Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India; PHED, Govt. of Rajasthan & UNICEF. 97 villages in 24 Gram Panchayats 14.5 Lakh 2 yrs, Since Sept 2006 Rajasthan Integrated Fluorisis Management Program in District Sikar Sikar with PHED, GoR & UNICEF 37 villages of 5 blocks 80 Lakh 2 yrs, since Feb 2006 Training of lady rural health workers-(asha SAHYOGNI) in Amber block of Jaipur district under the National rural Health Mission, with Department of Medical and Health, GoR 200 villages in 48 Gram Panchayats 3.25 Lakh 1 yr. Since June 2006 Artisans Training Programme: - in different part of Rajasthan in technical collaboration with RUDA Different part of Rajasthan Contin uing

10 Importance of Ara Tari Historical, traditional surviving skill Nayala,Jaipur- One of the few centers in India Symbolizes state of happiness, lavishly used for bridal costumes, other auspicious occasions Provides employment to several thousands persons (mainly women)

11 Present Status Ara Tari work concentrated in villages around Nayala of Jaipur district Over persons involved in this industry Industry controlled by traders (raw materials suppliers and buyers) Producers lack market exposure /awareness Lack of design/product innovation Poor returns to producers
