1 CURRICULUM VITAE Name Year of Birth Nationality : Javier Mateo-Sagasta : 04-jan-1978 : Spanish Key Qualifications Javier Mateo-Sagasta has extensive experience as agricultural engineer and environmental scientist in programs and projects aiming at the control of water pollution, the safe use of marginal quality water in agriculture, integrated water resources management and sustainable agricultural production in both developed and developing countries. Before joining IWMI, Javier gained experience on water management at research centers, in Jordan and the Netherlands, in the private sector, in Spain, and in the UN system with FAO, where he coordinated the FAO water quality program during four years. Javier has worked in multi-disciplinary teams mainly in MENA, Latin America and Europe but also in Senegal and China. Within IWMI Javier is a senior researcher working on water quality and safe reuse. He coordinates the WLE project Healthy Ganga: cleaner waters and more productive ecosystems and undertakes regional and global assessments on water pollution and resource recovery and reuse with UN partners. Javier has organized, facilitated and participated in international seminars and conferences, has published technical guidelines, global assessments and scientific papers and has provided technical backstopping to projects in the field. With his work in research, development and the private sector, Javier has forged a deep understanding of the knowledge generation to implementation pathways, vital for impact oriented research.
