10 Computerised herd management system AFIFARM is clearly the most widely used herd management software. It runs in seeral modules under Windows and in many languages (Czech, English, German, Russian, and more); it is easy and pleasant to work with the program. All figures are processed into clear tables and graphs. The program has also been certified for keeping cattle stable registers and the breeder can import the results of efficiency checks. The on-line assistance serice proided by programmers working for Bauer - Agromilk or S.A.E. Afikim direct. AfiFarm lets farmers make day-to-day strategic decisions and choose their tactics for the future. In contrast with our competitors the link with the pedometers helps to preent illness in indiidual cows and sae a great deal of money, where otherwise the problem would come to light later and classic treatment would be required. It allows monitoring the yield, the electrical conductiity of milk from the milk flow-meter and scans moement actiity from the pedometer. The system analyses the data to gie 10- day aerage figures and assesses problem dairy cows by predefined parameters. Dairy cows deiating from these parameters are selected and sorted into sets with rules. The adantage is the option to set the leel of deiation for different stages of lactation. This choice allows the operator to identify dairy cows recorded as being in heat, or who hae a reproductie or health problem. Milking with mechanical channeling barriers makes it easier for cattle to enter the milking parlour, greatly increasing productiity. SLUICE WATER RECYCLING - ECONOMICAL PROGRAM The disinfection machine can be equipped with a system for draining the disinfection solution into a special tank. The water collected can then be used to rinse the floors and walls of the milking house or for cleaning gangways. It only collects serice water with a disinfection solution, which is important from an ecological point of iew as the acidity and alkalinity of the solution are neutralized in the tank. This facility greatly cuts water consumption. It consists of dairy and pressure pipes running the entire length of the stable and can be positioned as required. The source of the acuum - the acuum pump, the drainage of the milk into the cooling tank, the pipe rinsing and milking itself are all controlled by a control unit, which can be moed along between each dairy cow. 15 Stabling technology Dairy cows lie one in each box for 10 to 13 hours a day, and get up and lie down up to 10 times per day. Free group stabling of dairy cows in indiidual boxes is a system, which meets the needs and comfort requirements of animals throughout their life and production cycles. A well-designed box has a major effect on breeding success, which is why we offer a complete barrier system for all categories of animals. Behind the apparently simple shape of the barrier there are dozens of hours spent monitoring the physiology of dairy cattle. The barriers are made from steel tubing with no surface finish, or from galanized steel tubes. They are supplied with all accessories and connection pieces, spaced to the client s requirements. Basic types of lying box barriers: STANDARD LYING BOXES SINGLE-ROW AND DOUBLE-ROW The simplest type of box, bolted to the floor through a steel anchor plate or concreted into anchor holes, or fastened to the wall. Simple adjustment of entilation by opening or closing flaps; can easily be installed in new or reconstructed stables. VS 96 entilation system The system replaces classic entilation windows, which do not meet optimum climatic conditions in the stable. COOLING SYSTEMS BAUER cooling systems are an essential component in the creation of a quality microclimate for cattle. They can help us to eliminate the negatie impact on production efficiency, health and the death rate. The deelopment of BAUER systems was based on the fact that each category of animals needs a different dispersal system, droplet softness and quantity of water the air can absorb. Of crucial importance is the stable entilation system and its capacity, and the positioning of entilators and wall outlets. It has been proen that cows can exhibit the first symptoms of heat stress at a local temperature of as low as 22 C. These entilators are, therefore not used only on hot summer days. The entilators proide a pleasant, tunnel current of air which does not cause a harmful draught. This method of cooling cows is highly effectie and allows them to be actiely cooled to 34 C without using other methods of cooling (such as sprinkling, etc.). The greater the requirements on a system, or rather the longer we intend to use it during the year or the more precisely we want to control it, the greater the pressure and the softer the jets that must be used. Soft jets hae a flow of lt/min, coarser jets generally hae lt/min. In normal conditions the temperature is reduced by up to 5 C. BAUER MICROSPRAYMATIC BAUER MICRO-SPRAYMATIC stationary low-pressure systems (spraying) up to 60 Pa (PE pipes can be connected to water mains, coarser jets). A flow of It/hour sprays an area of around metres, i.e. the distance between the jets is metres. These systems are particularly attractie due to their low price. They can work with low pressure from water main pipes or with high pressure from a high-pressure pump. The practical range is metres. They also hae a cooling effect due to air circulation. HYGROFAN ROTATOR The Hygrofan Rotator uses low water pressure of 1-6 bar, as the air is atomized by a rotating disk at the front. Their adantage is the price, the disadantage is that they cannot be used year round. We offer a closed top system made of UV stabilized PVC, where the surface of a honeycomb plate is moistened, and an open top system made of stainless components where jets moisten the surface of the honeycomb and it is easier to control. FLOOR HEATING Electric heating for milking house floors For heated floors, which hae a BAUER heating mat (cable) in a layer of concrete laid on a heat-insulated bed. The thickness of the concrete layer should not be less than 4-5cm. The thicker the layer, the greater the amount of heat accumulated. Direct heating of ceramic floor tiles using a heating mat has the adantage of being a low-lying system (less than 20 mm), can be installed on existing tiles without haing to remoe them, low heat inertia (making the system easy to adjust) and can be run on economy heating rate D 46, D 45, D 55. Hot-water heating for milking house floors Hot-water floor heating comprises a set of plastic tubes laid on heat insulation and coered with a concrete mix (anhydrite compound). The system goes with waterheating facilities (boiler) and water circulating pump. The plastic pipes are laid either on specially-cut panels or are woen into the guide rails. They are quick and easy to lay and hae a irtually unlimited serice life. Insulation is always laid beneath the plastic pipes. RADIANT PANELS With radiant panels the heat is distributed mainly through radiation. Some of the radiant flow is reflected (approximately 15%) when it meets objects (walls, floor), although the greater part (approximately 85%) is absorbed by the objects it falls on. This causes radiant energy to be conerted to heat energy (objects get warmer) and when the temperature of the objects rises, or when the temperature rises compared to the air, the heat is distributed by conection meaning the air is heated by the objects around. This principle means that the system has the following adantages: The flow radiates from the surface of the radiant panel; the bulk of the spectrum lies in a waelength band of greater than 5 mi crometers, a great deal of which is absorbed by the surface of the human body: this leads to a similar principle of heating to that of objects If objects are heated by the radiant flow to C, comfortable warmth can be proided at air temperatures of C and cuts energy costs by at least 18-24% A much more uniform temperature can be achieed in a ertical profile of -1-2 C between the floor and the ceiling (with conection heating the difference is gien as 1 C at a height of cm) As a result of reduced air flow circulation of air in the room the circulation of dust particles is also reduced, thus cutting the risk of a ariety of illnesses - asthma, inflammation of the mucous membranes, etc. The increased temperature of the walls reduces the incidence of surface condensation, while air humidity is not greatly reduced Panels require no maintenance The base of the panel is a surface (resistance) heating sheet or weae of insulated resistance conductors which are built into a sheet-steel box. The front wall of the panel has a special coating on both the inside and the outside the work surface. The inner side has a layer of a special substance, Thermoquartz. This substance guarantees the greatest absorption of heat (heat radiation) from the heating panel. 24 Manure systems SCRAPING SHOVELS These days hydraulic, chain or rope scraping shoels are the easiest and most reliable way of shoelling manure from the stable. We install shoels that hae been produced using years of experience in stables for cattle and pigs under a wide ariety of climatic conditions in a great many countries. In 2001 we launched a new product that we deeloped ourseles, the WING hydraulic shoel, an original system distinguished for its ease of use and minimum operating and maintenance requirements. The scraping shoel moes along the corridor using a mechanism with a grooed rod placed below or aboe the leel of the floor. We offer automatic programming of the shoelling process using a digital or analogue control unit. Naturally they feature automatic shut-down if an obstacle is hit. Our offer includes: scraping shoels with traction chain scraping shoels with steel and textile rope hydraulic scraping shoels MANURE STORAGE The basic option is to store manure in tanks. In terms of costs, tanks aboe ground are better than sunken tanks, and it makes it easier to check for manure leaks into the subsoil. We generally build high-capacity steel tanks (enamelled) or concrete of 3-10,000 m 3. They are equipped with full mixing and pumping technology. Another alternatie is storage in reseroirs in the earth. We hae managed to deelop a new type with double sheeting and a control system, which is much more stable and simpler to use than reseroirs used in the past. The cost is less than 500 CZK/m 3. Roofing for tanks: Fitting a roof on the tanks is cheaper and easier. For this purpose we offer the following type of roofing: floating (sheeting on floats) tent made of sheeting on supports (also for large-diameter tanks) metal roof (for smaller diameters) MANURE PROCESSING The basic method of processing manure is homogenization before further processing or application. An ideal alternatie is manure separation as the first stage of treatment. Separation reduces the amount of manure to be stored, solid manure, and the manure then does not need to be homogenized as often. The solid part sells well packed, makes compost or has other uses during the egetation period. We offer a BAUER worm separator with an output of 8-15m3/hr. This produces solid fraction of approximately 30-35%, liquid fraction of %. This liquid fraction can be cleaned in a centrifugal pump. 25 THE ISSUE OF MANURE PROCESSING For farms with a high concentration of animals the huge olume of manure produced presents a major problem, particularly for operations with a high concentration of animals per unit of space. The new laws in place make matters worse, which means that great attention must be deoted to manure processing. Classic systems for the correct processing of manure are demanding in terms of time, labour and inestment. The reactor is a concrete or steel double-hulled heat-insulated tank with permanent graity circulation of the contents. (The reactor features spontaneous hydraulic manure mixing. The reactor does not contain any mechanical parts such as mixers, etc. This allows substrate with a high concentration of substances (manure up to 12%). At present two feeding systems are used. The first system uses a central heating unit (electrical boiler), which heats the water piped to the stables from one feeding trough to the next and then back to the heating unit, so the circuit is closed and the heated water keeps circulating. The same circulation pipes also top up the feeding troughs. This system has the adantage of being simple, although it is better for smaller stables with a shorter feed water distribution system. It is expensie to run the standard 3,000-watt heating unit is used for systems with a maximum of 3 or 4 feeding troughs. The second system uses separately heated feeding troughs and a water distribution system deep underground where it will not freeze (or is protected against freezing by an 8 W/m electrical heating cable). The ph dropping below the limit leel helps to reduce the risk of the silage degenerating. Analysis of silage from bags show a low oerall acidity content, and a high ratio of lactic acid to acetic acid. One of the most important indicators of the results of fermentation of bag-silaged fodder crops is reduced proteolysis. Proteolytic processes are suppressed from the beginning when using this technology bag silage then generally contains less ammoniacal nitrogen in the oerall amount of nitrogen than trough silage. On the bagger with a tunnel diameter of 6.5 ft (2.00 metres) we fitted a high-quality cylindrical grinder. Grinding and bagging are now combined into one easy-to-control machine, thus saing you time and energy. Adantage of the cylindrical grinder The adantage of the cylindrical grinder is the marked saings on energy costs, up to 70% when coarse grinding for poultry and from 30% to 50% when fine grinding for pigs. If we consider the structure of the material to be processed, its digestibility, it makes the production of fodder much more efficient, particularly for poultry and cattle. 33 MB-01 MANIPULATOR The MB 01 manipulator MB 01 is for handling standard round hay bales. It is pulled behind a tractor on a three-point linkage and is connected to the tractor s hydraulic system. It makes manipulation easy the built-in hydraulic piston, controlled by maximum load: 700 kg the tractor s hydraulic system, ensures that weight: 55 kg the bales are gripped firmly and the ertical position of the bale can be adjusted inner diameter: 1120mm (for bales 130 cm in diameter) using the three-point linkage. MILK TROLLEY FOR CALVES We produce these in stainless steel, 130 l, 180 l, 260 l olume, either heated or unheated. The milk trolley is used to take milk to cales, heated if required. The stainless steel container is easy to clean and has a double bottom, on the back of which there are two heating elements. There is a water gauge for reading the water leel and a thermostat controls the milk temperature. On the front there is a release tap with a hose for transferring the milk to the trough.
