3 Successfully implemented projects on poverty alleviation as well as postdisaster recovery in China that had a value of more than US$1billion, assisting more than 30 million people, mostly in the remote central and western regions of the country. After 2005 China has become an increasingly significant donor to WFP s global activities, with over US$97.5 million in funding from the Government of China as of October 2016, in support of WFP s operations around the globe Memorandum of Understanding on South- South Cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture of the People s Republic of China and the United Nations World Food Programme. Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture of the People s Republic of China and the United Nations World Food Programme to Strengthen a Partnership for Global Hunger Solutions and Development.
4 WFP China Center of Excellence Core focus: 1. Integrating risk transfer and resilience solutions intro rural development, agriculture and enhanced food security WFP China Office will facilitate South-South Cooperation by functioning as the WFP Center of Excellence for Rural Transformation South-South Cooperation as one of the strategic objectives of WFP China Country Strategic Plan for , which has been approved by the WFP Executive Board in Feb, Poverty reduction including social safety net Nutrition Disaster risk management and mitigation
