3 Hi-density Apple Plantation INDO-DUTCH TRAINING PROGRAMMES Designed for : Progressive farmers and Entrepreneurs who want to earn higher incomes from their present land holdings Students who want practical exposure of this field and want to do something new. Non Governmental Organizations and their members who are willing to promote Horticulture in their areas. Government & Bank employees who want to gain knowledge about this field, to enable to promote this activity in rural areas. Benefits? Practical oriented training, field experience which participants can relate to theory Knowledge about various Central and State Govt. Schemes which are promoting entrepreneurship. Holistic approach and course module, will build confidence in participants to undertake this activity Direct interaction with progressive farmers, survey and analysis. Participants will come to know about the practical on field challenges. Industry and University knowledge sharing opportunity. Knowledge about the latest International practices in Horticulture Industry. Achievements Students from GB Pant University of Agriculture, after getting training from IDHT have established their own floriculture ventures. IDHT trained farmers are now well known for their quality produce in the Delhi flower market.
4 Programmes offered : Lillium cut flower production (4 days ) It is a high value floriculture crop produced in greenhouses. The flowers are very attractive, fragrant and priced Rs in retail. Netherlands is the hub for large scale production and marketing worldwide Gladiolus cut flower production (4 days ) The largest selling cut-flower in India, with continuo's increasing demand. The production technology is very Important to attain the consistent quality and year round cut-flower production the retail prices of the flowers goes up to Rs. 20/stem. Chrysanthemum cut flower production (4 days ) Spray varieties available in vibrant colours, sturdy stem having longer vase life. The spikes achieve a height of 100 cm with 6-10 buds per spike. The average wholesale price is in range of Rs /spike. Apple Orchard Management (4 days ) Hi-Density and early fruit bearing apple plants. The plant starts bearing fruits in just 1.5 yrs. Tissue Culture. (1 week ) The skill and experience of the tissue culturist are important in judging which pieces to culture and which to discard. Plant tissue culture is used widely by big organization to propagate the planting material. Vegetables production in greenhouse: (4 days ) capsicum, tomato and other high value commercial crops. Commercial Horticulture Training (covering all the above topics) (15-21 days) including exposure visits to progressive farmers and trips to Nainital and Bhimtal tourist spots.
