3 PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL NOT BE A MARKET ON THE 26 TH DECEMBER 2013 LOUTH ANNUAL CHRISTMAS STOCK SHOW DINNER MONDAY 9 TH DECEMBER 2013 This week saw the 84th Annual Christmas Stock Show take place with both cattle and lamb entries up on the previous year. The entry of 34 show cattle and 88 show lambs were of an exceptionally high standard which was reflected in the trade on the day. The show committee and auctioneers would like to give thanks to the cattle judge Miranda Brown, the sheep judge John Laking, Roy Hairsine for judging the best presentation and stockmanship and all the shows sponsors for making the day a great success. Credit must go out to all vendors and producers for the remarkable standard of cattle and sheep on offer but also recognition must go out to our excellent complement of buyers for supporting the show and the market on a weekly basis. A number of fund raising activities on the day raised a total of approximately 1700 for the Lincolnshire Rural Support Network and Macmillan Cancer Support. CLEAN CATTLE The judge, Miranda Brown, had a difficult job on her hands due to the exceptionally high quality of the cattle in the show. The show champion was a BRB x heifer from P & B Hodgson & Sons of Tumby Woodside weighing 612kgs and selling for ppk ( 2,444) to A Wright & Son of Boston. The reserve champion was a BRB x heifer from D T Todd (Farming) Ltd of East Torrington weighing 638kgs and selling for ppk ( 2197) also to A Wright & Son of Boston. The Champion unhaltered beast was a Bl x heifer from D G Nickson weighing 535 kgs and selling for ppk ( 1645) to A Wright & Son of Boston. The total prime cattle average price for the 34 prime cattle sold was ppk ( 1570) with all steers sold averaging ppk and heifers averaging ppk. YOUNG BULLS The top price young bull was Lincoln Red from R G Parkinson & Sons of Donnington on Bain weighing 595kgs and selling to Chris Bustance for ppk( 1353) OTM / OSTM CATTLE A small entry of commercial cull cows topped at 98.50ppk for a 2001 Lim x from T N T Towers that sold to David Coulson.
