2 TCFA Feedyard Technician Prgram The bjective f the TCFA Feedyard Technician Prgram is t enlist the supprt f Agricultural Science Teachers in identifying ptential students and ffer the educatinal experiences needed t prvide the student with the knwledge and skills needed t prepare them fr a ptential career in the fed cattle industry. The prgram is designed t allw the teacher flexibility in utilizing existing class curses and learning experiences t btain the prgram gals. Hw the prgram wrks: The prgram ffers tw distinct career paths. A student may chse t pursue ne r bth pprtunities. Cattle Handling and Care Machinery Operatin, Maintenance and Repair It is suggested that students enrll in at least 4 high schl agricultural classes, with the hpe that additinal classes will be taken. Career and Technlgy Educatin (CTE) classes taken utside the agricultural prgram and/r wrk experience may be substituted if apprved by the Agricultural Science Teacher. Refer t the guidelines belw fr a list f TEKS and CTE curses that will best serve the students fr cmpletin f the TCFA prgram. The student shuld have participated in sme type f extracurricular activity such as FFA, 4 H, r had sme type f supervised prject experience. Additinal supprt material and learning pprtunities will be prvided by TCFA, Texas AgriLife Extensin, WTAMU, industry Students, wh have successfully cmpleted the required training, shuld cmplete an applicatin fr testing alng with a teacher s evaluatin and letter f recmmendatin. Testing t determine if students have mastered the required knwledge and skills t be successful in the feedyard industry will be cnducted by representatives f TCFA, the Equipment Industry, and WTAMU and will include a multiple chice test, *skills test, and interview.
