2 Directorate of Wheat Development Profile The Directorate of Wheat Development, a sub-ordinate office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Agriculture & Cooperation (DAC), Government of India has been functioning from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh since It is one among the nine Crop Development Directorates functioning at various places in India under Crop Division of Ministry of Agriculture. It is established with following objectives: Objectives A. Objectives of Nodal Crops?? To assist the DAC, plan, formulate, coordinate and monitor nodal crop development programmes at National Level and recommend measures to improve them.?? To advise the States/ Union Territories to plan, formulate and implement crops development programme to increase production and productivity.?? To liase with State Agriculture Universities and Central Government Institutes for organising training course in improved production technology.?? To participate in meetings of Zonal Research and Extension Advisory Committee (ZREAC).?? To watch the performance of the newly evolved released varieties of seeds.?? To study and analyses trends in weather, crop area, production and productivity.?? To report regularly to DAC on weather and crop prospects, input supply postions as well as market and price trends, etc.?? To build the relevant data and records in respect of nodal crop. B. Area specific objectives for nodal crops of sister Directorates in Punjab, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.?? To function as eyes and ears of DAC also for all major crops produced in assigned States/ Union Territories?? To monitor the crop development programmes and report to Crops Division/ States about the gap between planning and performance.?? To monitor the availability of inputs and extension services.?? To regularly report to DAC on weather, crop prospects, input supply position, incidence of calamities etc in the assigned states.?? To report to the other Crops Directorates on matters relating to the respective nodal crops, weather, crop prospects and other important developments.?? To represent DAC on Central Study Teams etc. as and when required?? To participate in Kharif Conference, Rabi Conference, Zonal Seed Meetings etc.

4 Website: This portal for Directorate of Wheat development is a G2C initiative. The features of the portal are: Objectives/Mandate of the Directorate Varieties of wheat & barley available in the country State/District-wise area & production details for the past years A wide range of statistics based on crops, area, production etc., Weather Watch Monitoring System This system builds up a sound information base for crop review, input supply position, etc. in respect of Wheat and Barley production in India. This application facilitates the Directorate in the following manner: Fast and reliable flow of information Easy mechanism for storage and retrieval of the data Saving time in preparation of Progress report and transmission in time

5 DAK Monitoring System This is a G2E initiative. Features of this application can be summarized as below: Much easy to use software, based on a Graphical User Interface. Maintains all the information about Diary as it is done in the manual procedure. Repeated entry of information has been eliminate d. Facilitates faster searching of information Facilitates the user to create diary for a new year without any hassle/problem. Compilation of information on various aspect in shortest time

6 Payroll package The use of this package is initiated for computation of salaries, loans and various deductions for all the employees of the Directorate. Personnel Monitoring System A G2E initiative, this application has been developed to increase the efficiency in dealing with Personnel matters of all the employees. Hitherto computerization of the personnel information, processing the below mentioned information was a tedious task and valuable time was being wasted in collecting the scattered information and taking decision: Grant of annual increment Number of officers in each category Addresses of the employees Educational qualification Trainings attended and area of expertise Group-wise statistics on various parameters
