2 FLEIBLE SOWING BTS WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN SUGAR Top performer: relative Adjusted Tonnes.% Very high Sugar Content.% Very good Rust & Powdery Mildew resistance Lower bolting tendency provides flexibility for sowing time Across a range of UK soil types and growing conditions, BTS has always been a consistent performer. BTS is one of the most popular beet varieties sown in due to its high yield potential and agronomic performance.ˮ EARLY AND LATE SOWING BTS NEW INTRODUCTION FOR High yielding variety: relative Adjusted Tonnes.% Very high Sugar Content.% Excellent Rust & very good Powdery Mildew resistance Very low ESB score provides flexibility for sowing time Ideal choice to start the beet sowing The arrival of BTS gives growers the opportunity to grow a high yielding variety with associated low bolting figures; desirable characteristics for the earlier drilling slot.ˮ

3 FOR NORMAL AND LATE SOWING BTS THE PROFESSIONAL CHOICE FOR GROWER AND PROCESSOR Very high Adjusted Tonnes:.% Very high Sugar Content:.% Consistently produces very high Sugar Yields Good Rust & Powdery Mildew resistance BTS is a variety suitable for sowing from mid- onwards. It has been very reliable and has consistently produced high yields of beet under a variety of UK production systems.ˮ. EARLY GROWING SECTOR (GREEN CIRCLE) This is a small niche group of growers that are prepared to drill sugar beet as soon as conditions allow in the early spring end February onwards, for achieving max yield potential. These growers use varieties with very good bolting resistance; an important genetic trait offering crop security, usually at the expense of higher yield potential from very high yielding varieties that are available on the RL. BTS offers the highest yielding variety for this group sector, combined with very low bolting figures, giving growers the opportunity for additional yield and increased farm income.. HIGH YIELD, RISK ADVERSE SECTOR (PURPLE CIRCLE) This is the largest sector of growers and accounts for the majority of sugar beet growers in the UK at this present time. Growers in this sector select the highest yielding varieties combined with lower bolting Limagrain UK suggests that growers of sugar beet in the UK can be split into three individual grower types (see chart : Early Sown Bolting Tolerance vs. Adjusted Tonnes): characteristics a reassurance that when drilling conditions are suitable on farm, they can commence planting with a low risk associated. BTS fits the criteria for this large market sector, offering very high yield potential combined with lower bolting figures; attributes that have secured a large market share in.. VARIETIES FOR LATER DRILLING DUE TO ASSOCIATED BOLTING RISK (RED CIRCLE) With the exception of the lower yielding control varieties and some lines, this sector is associated with growers that usually want to grow the higher yielding varieties available, and will compromise for the higher bolting figures associated within such varieties by delaying drilling dates on farm. BTS has very high yield potential and more importantly has shown very good yield consistency over several seasons in RL trials; a valuable asset for consideration by growers.
