32 Contact About Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA) is a Swiss-based non-profit organization, which focuses on enabling farmers access to the best technology and advice, raising their yields and linking them to markets. SFSA s global Seeds2B program helps farmers access quality seeds of improved varieties for the crops they need. SFSA s Seeds2B program aims to develop seed markets, by scouting for new promising varieties, providing business planning support, trialing, assisting with navigating registration procedures, developing equitable variety licensing agreements between breeders and seed companies, providing technical support for seed production, and conducting monitoring and evaluation. SFSA developed Seeds2B Africa Ltd from its global Seeds2B program, in order to provide an open offer to trial and develop market linkages for any crop. Seeds2B Africa Ltd acts as a trialing, registration and relationship broker to identify and make available the best variety candidates of a wide range of material suitable for the agro-ecologies and markets in Africa. Seeds2B Africa connects a wide range of public and private breeders and seed companies (both African and non-african). The purpose is to facilitate the introduction of quality seeds of improved varieties into the portfolios of African businesses. Seeds2B Africa is currently active in Senegal, Mali, Kenya, Malawi and Zimbabwe. The African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) implements Seeds2B Africa activities in Malawi and Zimbabwe. Inclusion of the publicly-bred varieties in this catalogue result from work undertaken as part of the Global Development Alliance (PASTTA) between USAID and SFSA. All efforts have been made to assess the varieties potential to the highest standards. However, SFSA and Seeds2B Africa cannot be held responsible for issues related to varietal performance or quality of the seeds provided by the varieties owners.
