3 New India Manthan - Sankalp Se Siddhi Preamble Role of pattern In order to mark the 75 Anniversary of 'Quit India Movement', the Government of India has decided to commemorate this occasion as 'New India Manthan - Sankalp se Siddhi' event across the country from August, In this regard, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare celebrates 'New India Manthan - Sankalp Se Siddhi' event in all the districts of the country for agricultural development with the objective of doubling the farmers income by 2022 and the resolution will be taken to free the country from various categories like poverty, corruption, terrorism, communalism, casteism etc. ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Directorate of Extension Education, TNAU, Madurai District as directed by the ICAR-ATARI, Zone-X, Hyderabad conducted 'New India Manthan - Sankalp se Siddhi' event on at Kakkan Auditorium, Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai.

7 Sankalp Se Siddhi Programme KVK, Madurai Welcome Address Dr.ChelviRamessh Programme Coordinator, KVK, Madurai Dr.ChelviRamessh, welcomed the gatherings and dignitaries. She enlightened the gatherings about the New India Manthan Sankalp Se Siddi programme and drew attention of farmers towards doubling the farmers income by adopting seven point strategy. Further, she informed the farmers about the role of KVK in strengthening agricultural system. Special Address Dr.S.Suresh Dean, Agricultural College & Research Institute, Madurai Dr.S.Suresh, emphasized the need for adoption of new improved technologies in agriculture for enhancing farm income. He also stressed the extension functionaries to create awareness about new technologies among the farmers in the nook and corner of the country. Dr.S.Parvathi Dean, Home Science College & Research Institute, Madurai Dr.S.Parvathi, visualized the role of value addition towards increasing farm income significantly besides reducing the waste of crop produces after harvesting. She also highlighted the role of Home Science College and Research Institute, Madurai in offering various trainings in this line.

8 Felicitations Shri.A.Selvapandi Joint Director of Agriculture, Madurai Dr.A.Selvapandi, JDA hinted the gap between technology emergence and adoption. He insisted the farmers in adopting integrated approach in farming using latest technologies and advanced machineries so as to increase the income and reducing drudgery. Shrimathi. Chandrasekaran, Regional Joint Director for Cooperatives, Madurai She appreciated the farmers effort in meeting the food demand even during the drought and varying climatic condition. Further she motivated the farmers for producing more crop by investing their hard work towards their upliftment with systematic plan and approach. She insisted the use of modern tools towards improving work efficiency in farming. He insisted the farmers for precise use of water considering water shortage by adopting drip and sprinkler irrigation system. He also highlighted the need for reducing excessive use of pesticides and fertilizers as it cause pollution of agricultural lands besides wasting money. Shri.K.Boopathi, Deputy Director of Horticulture, Madurai He encouraged the farmers for adopting alternate crops towards getting higher income from their farm. Horticultural crops, medicinal plants and economically important crops can be considered while choosing the alternate crops.
